interlude

Someone is down in the Kashtta's piano room, very quietly playing Debussy's Clair de Lune.

It's one of the first songs he mastered as a child. It's also something he hasn't played in decades, but you probably wouldn't be able to tell.

This has happened before, he thinks, fingers moving gently (and a bit cautiously) against the keys. He remembers it. ( Read more... )

Abby hears the piano. Last time she heard the piano, SpyDaddy was playing it, but the quality is somehow different--the hesitance, the gentleness. Call it morbid curiosity, but she cant help peaking around the doorway. Oh hai, someone she doesn't know at all. So here she be, watching in silence while he plays like a creeper.

She doesn't mean to be a creeper. It just sort of happens.

Dan's power is extremely useful in many ways, the most convenient of which is the eyes in the back/side/top of his head effect. Thanks to that, it doesn't take him long to notice the woman watching him and when he does, a smile tugs at his lips. He has an audience!

"Hello," he says, without turning his attention away from the keys.

She jumps, then immediately collects herself and wanders closer, hands shoved in her pockets like she so doesn't care that he took her by surprise.

"Hullo," she says, accent clear. "That's pretty. The song, I mean."

As though he wouldn't have known otherwise.

He somehow manages not to snicker at her reaction. Truth be told, he's always wanted to do that to someone - and now that he has, he doesn't plan on doing it again. It's not very nice.

... still, that was funny.

He grins to himself, turning his head just a little toward her. "Thank you. It's Debussy."
