And that's the way the cookie crumbles, Chicago.

"While citizens still wait in anger and frustration for a word from their elected officials about the recent outbreak of violence within the city and what is being done about it, one man, who is only in the running, has chosen to speak on the manner at a local rally for his campaign in Cicero."

A shot of Randall Flagg at an impressively crowded rally. He stands on a podium, well dressed and put together, but with an air of solemnity in the middle of a rather exciting rally.

"I know you are all waiting to hear an official response to the terrible attacks that have ravaged our city." The crowd breaks into a loud ruckus of agreement and cheers. Flagg holds up a hand to silent them and they go dead silent. "Frankly, so am I. I don't think we're going to hear it. The government has been keeping secrets from the Chicagoan people for long enough. I told you I'd put an end to that if I were elected and I would. I want to inform you so you know what's going on in your city. So you don't have to live in fear anymore of the unknown!"

The crowd cheers, again, wildly, but settle down when it looks as though he's going to speak, again.

"The CLF is a misguided group. They were born out of ignorance and fear. They started to see things that they didn't understand and this was their response, because their government, the government that kept its secrets, didn't give them any other way to respond. You have all seen the pictures if you haven't experienced something unexplainable firsthand. For those of you not responding with violent means, I salute you. It's not easy living in this city with the unknown close at hand, outside your front doors, in your schools and parks, and right next door. Violence is not the answer, but together we can find the correct answer. Together we can stop the attacks and start constructively working on this problem. I have the answers. I know the truth, but I refuse to say anything now until I am in a position to do something constructive about it with your help. I will not let any more misguided people attempt to take the matter into their own hands, turning good people into murderers and resulting in so much unnecessary death."

Flagg pauses, but the crowd is not distracted. All faces are pointed at him, and there is little chatter.

"Look at yourself, Chicago. Ask yourself, do you want to sit by while your city is stained with the blood of many and you live in constant fear of what no one will tell you? Or do you want someone to step in who will take you seriously, Chicago? Who will not keep their mouth shut while the city goes up in flames, but who will deal with the actual issues for once? Remember Chicago, I'm your man. I can make it all happen."

Another round of wild cheers.

Shot moves back to the newsroom.

"Voting for our new mayor takes place in just under a month. As voting day approaches, both candidates have revved up their campaigning. We're sure to see much more of the both of them as the day draws near..."
