Anyone walking through the common room would be hard-pressed to miss Penny, seated in a chair with a notebook in her lap and a borrowed mobile (she's not sure whose) to her ear. Her expression is enough to tip anyone off to her obvious frustration, but if it wasn't enough, there's the frantic tapping on her notebook with a pen to show it as well.
"Yes, I understand that you're spread far too thin as it is, but I'm not making this up." She frowns as whoever she has on the other end speaks up. "Look," she says abruptly, cutting him off, "I don't understand what's so difficult about this. You posted a list of the missing on the news, and I know exactly where each and every one of those people are." Another pause. "It's not a bloody hunch! It's- Hello?"
She scowls and shuts off the mobile, laying it on an end table in the hopes that whoever it belongs to will claim it, since she honestly can't remember who she borrowed it from when she came running (well limping) out of her room with her notebook in hand, frantic to get in touch with the police about something.
A fat lot of good that did, however. Clearly, the entire Chicago police force thinks she's a looney and she can't be certain that anyone will get to those people in time. The only thing that's keeping her from going after them herself is the fact that she sprained her ankle at some point during the earthquake and that's not conductive to saving anyone. It's only a minor sprain, which is what irks her about it. It'll fine in a few days, but by then it'll be too late to do anything.
She stares down at her list again, frowning. There are two columns, both filled with strange names she only heard off the news. Names attached to people she searched for with her ability. Names of people she found, but can't actively seek out.
Sometimes she has to wonder if the Rift is mocking her, given that any good she could manage to do with this power she has seems to be squashed out almost instantly.
