The fact that Eric's running isn't surprising. The surprising thing is he's running towards the disturbance, not away. For a self-proclaimed coward (and completely unashamed of that fact, he'll have you know), it's a little bit out-of-character.
But then, caring about people is one of those things he does so rarely, and... Elashte is a friend, not just his boss. A small part of his mind is convinced that one of these days that fact will get him killed, but at least he'll have excellent company until that happens.
So Eric's coming out to try and Deal With This. His shirt's only half-buttoned, showing his burn-scars, there's a small gun in his hand and, for all the uncertainty of his expression, a noticeable aura of calm around him. It's not targeted, which cuts down on the effectiveness, but he's not feeling anything malicious, and the last thing they need is someone panicking or jumping to conclusions. Either of those things could be very bad for the continued safety of himself and Elashte. Other people, he doesn't care about so much, but if self-preservation means helping them, so be it.
As hard as he can, as far as he can, trying to hit everyone in the area, Eric is projecting calm, goddamnit. He can tailor it to specific people later, if he finds anyone that needs it.
Also coming in at a run, guns out, are Jeremy and Suzie. Suzie's heading straight for the one in the lab coat, who seems to be the center of it all. "Are you all right?" she calls.
Jeremy's just hanging back, analyzing everyone as a potential threat, when he starts noticing how calm he feels suddenly. And that means... oh look, there's Eric. Fucking Glaysa. The kid in the lab coat seems to be at the center of it all, and Billy gets a dark look for a moment, before Jer's back to scanning the area, looking for anyone that seems actively hostile. Unlike Eric, he has his wings out, in all their deceptively pretty iridescent glory.
He was looking forward to a possible kill, damnit.
Woah. Okay, a bunch of people closing in on him all at once, and with him being slightly concussed, this is head-spin worthy.
"Uh..." he blinks a little and looks at Suzie. "Yeah. I didn't... wonderflonium didn't used to be that explosive." Thank the Rift for that one, sweetie.
His hoodie-wearing shadow, for the record, is silent, with its hands shoved in its pockets. It doesn't have much of anything to say right now. I miss home. Okay, maybe it's got a little background murmuring going on, but nothing important.
Suzie takes in the shadow-mumbling. Cute kid, obviously far away from home... And yes, the fact that Billy's not THAT much younger than she is doesn't change her mental estimation of him as 'kid'.
She sighs and puts her gun away. He doesn't strike her as a threat, and she feels a bit sorry for him.
"Wonderflonium?" she asks, looking into his eyes, checking to see if his pupils match up. Probably it's just a bit of a concussion -- he's acting dazed enough for it to be a distinct possibility -- but she's hoping there are no signs of anything more serious.
Meanwhile, Eric and Jeremy are glaring at each other, as seems to happen every time they're in the same general area.
"Accident, huh?" Jeremy puts the gun away, looking impossibly bored. "Let me know when something interesting happens, would you?"
"You could at least pretend to be concerned," Eric snaps, before holstering his own weapon and turning to Billy. "Hey there. I'm Eric." He keeps his smile nice and comforting, not wanting to alarm the boy, and addressing Suzie and Billy both.
"Suzie Costello," Suzie volunteers. She holds up three fingers in front of Billy. "How many fingers?"
