It's hard for Elashte not to notice when part of his building blows up. He's at his window in an instant, scanning with his mind for anyone hostile, anyone injured - and then, with a few muttered invectives, he hurries into the hall and is immediately intercepted by Malek, who's making his way at doubletime on the one crutch Elashte's mandated for him.
"Boss!" he says, hobbling up with a rapid-fire ba-TUNK ba-TUNK ba-TUNK sort of rhythm. "You all right? Get you to the basement, you go t'ground-"
"An accident, Malek," Elashte says, dismissing him with a wave of the hand and heading for the stairs. Malek follows at an impressive speed. "You shouldn't be straining that leg."
Malek thumps the crutch onto the ground, following him into the stairs and down in a display of wounded gymnastics Elashte is not sure won't end in disaster. "I'm fine. Look out fr you, ya know? Accident." He snorts. "Like they don't have archangels what blow things up."
"None who would be able to hide their presence from me," Elashte mutters back, throwing open the outside door. Malek catches it on his crutch arm, stumbling half a step after Elashte before getting the crutch back under him. "And none who would so accurately recreate one very confused Wanderer, with whom I'm going to have a serious chat about laboratory safeties."
Malek chuckles. Times like these, he's glad he's not a scientist.
"No one is going to be shot," Elashte says, motioning the gun down. He can see the fire-suppression systems going from where he stands, and he's trying not to cringe at the amount of property damage that no doubt represents. "What happened here?" he asks, though it's mostly a formality - he's already digging through Billy's mind. The man lost his claim to privacy when he blew up part of the Gauche.
Malek skips a few steps forward on his crutch, staring a the smoke. "'ey, you meet a kid named Anya?" he asks of Billy, grinning in a way usually considered unhealthy.

Hey, she's not going to shoot, she's just not taking any chances.
Billy puts his hands in the air, right away, though he's dazed and woozy. "Noooo, don't shoot, it was an accident, honest!"
