It ain't easy growing up in World War III

There's an archangel in the training room at the Conrad, viciously assaulting a punching bag. She was so proud when Romana brought her along. Just nineteen, and Romana thinks she's good enough to come clean up Chicago, and she'd never been so happy.

And then things went wrong, somehow, and Romana... Romana freaked out. Romana's never freaked out ( Read more... )

Wolverine is not a happy mutant, but that's really nothing new. He killed that demon, yeah, no big deal. Knew he would. But then he came back to the basement only to find that there isn't a clear good guy, bad guy side anymore. Logan's been in situations like this before, but hell if he doesn't do well with complications.

It's just easier when everything's black and white.

He had been going to the training room to work off some steam, but the sweaty scent of an angel stops him shortly after he steps inside. Of course, the sounds from the training room had echoed down the hall (for him, at least), but he hadn't realized it was another angel. Should have. They're about all that remains down here.

Wolverine mutters a Spanish curse of his own and leans back against the wall behind him. "'n I thought I was mad."

Elena should have heard him coming. She didn't. So when she hears an unfamiliar voice behind her, she whirls, pulling a knife.

But he's just leaning against the wall, not doing anything, so she relaxes a little. "Sorry," she mutters. "Thought most of you guys se fueron."

If this guy knows enough Spanish to curse in it, he should be able to get a simple "you left" out of that. If he doesn't get it... Well, there are lots of gringos who think they're cool because they know a phrase or two, and then she'll know he's not worth the effort. And at least Romana's not around to scold her for mixing languages.

Besides, she's too pissed at herself for not hearing him to lose the accent and talk right.

Wolverine doesn't even flinch when she whirls and pulls the knife out on him, but he does raise his eyebrows. It's not as if getting stabbed is something he's worried about. Sure, it's annoying, but it tends to happen often no matter how he reacts to the knives (and the swords and the guns, etc).

He wouldn't mind a fight, but he has enough enemies down here and he doesn't like to fight young women if he can help it, they tend to always remind him of Rogue or Angua.

"La mayoría del. No todo."

Most. Not all. Yes, he knows his Spanish. A couple of dialects of it, actually.

And he's starting to have some memory of where he's picked up half the languages he knows, but it's just a little too much to take with everything else going on.

She nods a little bit. Okay, he's got her respect for the moment... Both for the Spanish and the not flinching. The knife gets put away, and she looks him over, thinking.

"So. You one of those that think Romana's el Anticristo, or what?" She is so not in the mood for bullshit right now. He seems like he'd be straight with her, though.
