Sometimes a bone gets broken, and there isn't anyone there to set it...so it heals improperly, badly, wrong. This sort of wound will cause problems for a long time, cropping up in new and painful ways as time goes on. The only way to solve this kind of problem is by re-breaking the bone and setting it so that it can heal straight and strong.
This is, in essence, what Rose is. She's been broken, but no one had the knowledge to set her properly so she could heal into a normal girl again. Instead, she put herself together in ways where bits and pieces of herself are ripping her apart and hurting the people she cares about.
Right now, a very defensive and hurting Rose is looking for her Pack mates. Having spent a good amount of time thinking about everyone and everything in her life, Rose has come to the understanding that something is terribly wrong with her, but she can't figure out what. And having spent some time in the TARDIS recently, she feels the Pack song of the Bad Wolf.
So with this Pack mentality, the pup known as Rose has her tail between her legs, looking for someone to help her re-break the bone, set it, and clean the wounds so she can heal a little bit better. So she can resolve all these repressed and pent up emotions.
