Random reflection on what made a fic 'popular'
Finished the VK fic the other week. I can't believe how popular that one is/was -- it got a lot more attention than I was expecting. ^^; Then again, it was an entirely PWP / lemon fic (I made myself write it that way to get over my stupid squick about writing intimate scenes). I wrote some Kaname x Yuuki fics, but usually I'm running around doing random things and end up not having time to dab much into fanfiction, as it's easier for me to express myself through drawings. (English not being my first or even second language also makes the writing process a lot more slow and full of me doubting my word choices/tweaking endlessly etc., which makes it occasionally hair-tearingly annoying too. XD; *lol*)
Out of such a productive fandom!
The fandom is productive, but such a sadly huge amount of that productivity is Mary Sue fics and fics were you wonder "who are those people with my favorite characters' names?? Because they sure don't behave at all like them..." XD;; (In some cases it can be understandable depending on a number of things, but when it's just plain OOCness in a way that has no basis whatsoever in the character's personality, huh. XD;;)
Not to mention the depressingly huge amount of people who simply lift entire plots off other people's fics and post it, without any indication that they have any shame. XD;
(A girl recently posted a fic in which one chapter was a total rip off of two fics by other authors, and the second chapter was a rip-off of one of my one-shots... she only changed the detail that Kaname was standing instead of laying down, but all else was identical. XD;;)
There are some WONDERFUL fics, but it's nowhere as often as we'd hope. XD;;
So when someone pops up who actually writes the characters well and has interesting plots/ideas, I stalk them like whoa. *as demonstrated currenlty* XD *rotfl*
A follow up would be lovely, even just as a bonus one-shot/epilogue type of thing~! ^__^//<333
Oh, and just so you know, it's your fanart that keeps me so addicted to this series and keeping me writing for it! XD (I am so jealous of your talent!!!)

You know, one of the reasons why I post so much fanart is actually purposefully to get people around on a VK hyper feeling, so that it will cause more VK fanworks that I may also enjoy... XD; *lol*
So I'm utterly delighted each time I hear that it's working. XD *rotfl*
Mwhhahahaha, my evil plot to get everybody in the world to fangirl VK wildly continues to go on. *rotfl* XD
