I'm biking to work

I biked to work and back yesterday. This is a big deal for me because I haven't done any serious biking in over 5 years. I only just brought out my bike from storage a month ago and the farthest I have traveled on it this season is a couple of easy miles on the Midtown Greenway. But, ever since a fitness center with showers (showers being the important part) opened up in my office building, I have been threatening to ride my bike to work. Don and I scouted out the route last Saturday, it is 7.14 miles one way, almost all of it on a frontage road parallel to 394 and almost all of it hills. Gentle rolling hills, steep hills, lots of hills. I could do 7 miles easy except for the hills. I thought I was going to die by the time I got home yesterday evening (oh yeah, I had a stiff head-wind coming home to add insult to injury) and I took a shower, ate dinner, and fell asleep on the couch. Strangely, I can't wait to do it again tomorrow (because of my crazy schedule I can only ride my bike to work on Mondays and Wednesdays for now). The ride does have some exhilarting parts, like going down a long steep hill really really fast. Whoopee!
