Summary : After a Federation colony is attacked, the Enterprise pursues an alien ship into uncharted space. There they meet with a race of beings who kidnap Captain Kirk and force him to fight the alien captain in a battle to the death, while Spock must lead the Enterprise crew in a race against the clock to save him.
A/Ns : my first trek fic in a ridiculously long time, omg! :) this was written for operation80, a challenge which is all because of raindissolved. laulan made me choose this episode and polished the finished fic to a perfect shine. epershand and waketosleep were amazing betas who were also instrumental in this not sucking. and the fic is dedicated to douxquemiel whose birthday is this week, and who is awesome.
i'd like to mention the inspiration i got from seperis, who writes about terrorism and war and xenophobia and whose fic (besides being awesome and keeping my kirk/spock flame burning) keeps me thinking about what star trek can teach me about my world. also, this week marks the one-year anniversary of our fandom, and so i'd like to say thanks to all the authors and readers who've made it awesome. y'all are my homegirls and boys, and i love you to bits.
