As usual, it doesn't feel like another year is drawing to a close, but my calendar tells me it's true, so here's a survey-type deal to sum up most of the year. It's been good, overall. I don't have complaints.

Year-End Recap:
1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before? I'm sure there was something, but nothing comes to mind.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? Didn't really make resolutions, and probably won't make specific ones this year either.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? my sister-in-law
4. Did anyone close to you die? nope
5. What countries did you visit? stayed in the US this year

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008? A literary agent. :)
7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? No etch-worthy dates this year, really.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Grad school.
9. What was your biggest failure? Personal time management.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Just getting my wisdom teeth ripped out.

11. What was the best thing you bought? Umm. . . luggage?  How lame is that?  But it's wicked nice.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? I have no idea.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Also no idea. I don't really keep track of those sorts of things.
14. Where did most of your money go? Tuition and rent. Sometimes the Real World really stinks.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? My novel.

16. What song will always remind you of 2008? My brain doesn't really work that way.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. Happier or sadder? Happier, I think.
ii. Thinner or fatter? about the same
iii. Richer or poorer? poorer - or at least, more in debt.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Write.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Complaining about petty problems.
20. How did you spend Christmas? With Matt and Shiloh.
{apparently there is no #21...}

22. Did you fall in love in 2008? [Sappy answer alert!] I fall in love every day. [/sappy answer]
23. How many one-night stands? NONE, NOT EVER *gah*
24. What was your favorite TV program? I watched a lot of Dirty Jobs and Mythbusters
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? No
26. What was the best book you read? Um... I read 160. It's hard to call one the best.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery? I don’t really feel like I made any musical discoveries. Is that bad? Have I failed as a former music major?
28. What did you want and get? More than I should have
(also no #29!)
30. What was your favorite film of this year? I hate naming favorites, but The Dark Knight was crazy good, so we'll go with that.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 26, and we were backpacking in Rocky Mountain National Park with friends that weekend.
32. What would you have liked to have had in 2008 to make it a better year? It was pretty good. No debt? That's about all that would make a big difference...
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008? Bookish writer-type meets skier/hiker type.
34. What kept you sane? Matt, as usual.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? erm... I dunno.

36. What political issue stirred you the most? Political issues don't usually stir me, but I was very interested in the outcome of the presidential race.
37. Who did you miss? Actively?  No one.  But I'd love it if several friends and family members were nearer so we could hang out.
38. Who was the best new person you met? I met too many new people to pick who's the best, especially since they all know each other.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008: Relax and let God take care of it.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: "New Day" - Robbie Seay Band

I'm gonna sing this song
To let you know that you're not alone
And if you're like me
You need hope, coffee, and melody
So sit back down
Let the world keep spinning ‘round
For yesterday's gone and today is waiting on you to show your face

It might not be
The prettiest thing that you'll ever see
But it’s a new day, oh baby, it’s a new day
And it might not look like
A beautiful sunrise
But it's a new day, oh baby, it’s a new day

I’m a pilgrim soul
I've traveled far and come back home
This land is hard and cold
For those who long to love
And I know it might seem
That the world is crumbling
But it’s me and you dancing in the kitchen at 2 am
And we're still alive

It’s the calm of the storm that comes blowing in
It’s the springtime saying I'm back again
The clouds that roll by
Crossing moonlight
Me and you love - everything's alright
Standing in the rain with nowhere to go
Laughing and we're spinning and I hope that you
Remember this day
For the rest of your life
Me and you love - everything’s gonna be alright

And it just might be
The prettiest thing that you'll ever see
It’s a new day
Oh baby, it’s a new day
If you look outside
To see a beautiful sunrise
It’s a new day
