Three flights, two customs clearings and one never-ending Monday later, the sister and I have arrived back home. *takes big deep gulps of Montreal air* The sister was barely sick during the trip back and she's already readjusted pretty well to the timezone change. Me, I'm horribly jetlagged, didn't sleep a wink the entire night (it's noontime now) and will probably die tomorrow for that it is my first day of classes. Oh joy.
The last day in Shanghai was frantic and unsatisfying. I was dead tired from the uber-early Beijing flight, I didn't manage to eat any
xiaolongbao until thirty minutes before our flight to North American and we spent four hours waiting in line for the
Oriental Pearl Tower (Oh yes, avoid touristy places in China during touristy months. The line-ups will both astound and exhaust you.) We did however get to ride the
Maglev from the airport into the city, which was very very very cool. I also managed to get some pictures of the Shanghai nighttime skyline.
Unfortunately, due to all the running around and lack of sleep, I barely had time to finish writing and addressing th postcards. I think that I did all the ones that I was supposed to, but it's also highly possible that I've forgotten a few. *winces* My father is supposed to mail them from China for me, so apologies if you requested one and it never arrives. Just let me know and I could...erm...send you one from Canada?
Something similar goes for my pictures of the trip. I was using my dad's camera because my very pink and usually very reliable pink Sony Cybershot was having problems. Well, in the middle of the last-minute rush and everything, I didn't have time to transfer all the pics from the camera to my computer. Dad is sending the bulk of them over via a flash drive in mid-September, which means that until then, there shall only be limited and well-spaced out picspams. *facepalm* And here I thought that I was getting the hang of this tourist thing...
*sigh* Jetlag is no fun and neither is having to deal with all the stuff that I had either put off before the trip or accumulated during. There's classes starting tomorrow, plus medical/dental/eye appointments to be made, student loans and student lines of credit to be arranged, extracurricular activities to be set up, the upcoming exchange to prepare for...not to mention that I'm still having trouble getting my school system to let me sign up for my last required class. You know, the one I need in order to graduate? Arg, stupid bureaucratic school administration who won't answer my queries!
*stomps feet*
*passes out*
