Nearly over

Dec 04, 2007 19:14

So, that was my last class at McGill. Done. Over. Only two assignments and two exams, then that's it for me at McGill.

It doesn't feel like classes are over. Perhaps that's because of the assignments, perhaps it's because today is Tuesday (McGill's timetabling is weird).

I wish it were the other way around - assignments and exams all done, and classes extending for another three weeks. I'll miss classes, and the people in them (except for you, Emilie, because you slept through all the classes anyway :P Are you even reading this?). Seriously - unless I do stuff with Emilie over the holidays, I'm quite likely not to see any of my class-friends again, except for my computer science friend at our exams. That's quite sad. I've been spending time with people from all sorts of places (yes, Montreal, Toronto, Los Angeles, Birmingham and New Jersey count as 'all sorts'), and it's quite fun, even if when I'm with them I have a tendency to prattle on about Queensland.

Speaking of Queensland, how's the weather back home? It snowed a bit more today, and some places were still quite pretty. But others were not. Sherbrooke street was a river of brown sludge. Seriously, I think I'd rather go for a swim in the Brisbane River than try to cross that road if it gets any worse. I've been walking around gorgeous snow-covered gray-stone buildings, and thinking of sun and sandstone.

And when I get back to UQ, I'll probably have to make new friends in my classes anyway - no more Latin with Emily (I won't mention the other who abandoned us. She knows who she is :P), my IT friends will probably be ahead of me by now, seeing as 2008 will be their last year. I like being in classes with friends. It's so much more fun that way.

I've just realised that in all my years I've been on Livejournal, this is probably my angstiest post yet. I'd better stop before it gets too awful. I'm really only just rambling because I'd rather sit here and type sentimental babble than read books on Old English elegies. Not that there's anything wrong with Old English elegies, it's just the fact that it's an assignment.

I'll just conclude with the fact that I've been enjoying my time at McGill. I like UQ better, but McGill is still a good place. Let's hope it continues to be good over the exam block! And I heartily recommend going on exchange to anyone who can.

PS. I've just realised that it may cause a little confusion that the only two names I've mentioned in this post are Emilie and Emily. They're different people. Same name, though - Emilie just spells it weird because she's Quebecoise, and everyone knows Quebec people are weird :P. Ha! I now have an Emily, an Emilie, and an Emile on my friendslist :)

exchange, ramblings
