turn on the heat, damn it!

so, it's been a while.

i'm SO over winter. it's freezing right now so i've decided to spend my sunday reading, watching weird ass local tv shows, and working on a few sketches i've started for a project i want to do.

of course i don't get monday off. bastards. ah well, i'm the only one in the office right now that's not in the hot seat right now so it's nice. i'm not necessarily loving what i'm doing right now but i've gotten used to it. i at least appreciate it a little more now.

i've decided though that i am going to start seriously working on some projects i've had in mind for a long time on the side so that maybe eventually i can get out of the office environment. and by eventually i mean SO eventually. but that's ok. anyway i didn't come to ny just to be annoyed by an office job. i've found it hard to not just come home and couch. after work i'm usually just so exhausted by the fucked up office politics and lack of communication and the tedious mechanical nonsense busy work that i'm doing right now that i just feel absolutely listless when i get home. but i have to start ignoring that or let it be the fuel for my artistic fire (haha i can't believe i just typed that...)

this weekend has been so relaxing though. friday night i met elizabeth and our friend peter for drinks after her performance. then yesterday slept in and was introduced to that show weeds which is awesome. last night i went out and saw elizabeth's performance which was great. it was a lot different than i expected it to be. to me it was more of a performance art piece than a dance piece. and also, the choreographer woman who obviously wanted all the glory b/c of her spotlit retarded solos got on my nerves. i was much more entranced by the idea of projecting video onto scrims and the layering effect that happens when the dancers were behind it. it was nice. but the video editor.... not so good. it definitely has inspired me to take on some more video projects. i'm so proud of elizabeth though, she rocks.

i joined the gym the other day. i haven't started yet. i'm starting tomorrow i think. wish me luck. i've never done a gym before. i will now be a hamster on my little wheel. i thought maybe it would be a good idea. get my energy flowing. make the flab go away. then maybe by the time bikini season hits i will actually want to wear one. (maybe).

netflix rocks. movies that i have seen lately:

- the first couple of discs of desperate housewives - i like this show. but now that i've seen weeds i like it better. whatever. they're both good.
- broken flowers - didn't i already write about this one? well if not it was slow and all about bill murray's facial expressions.
- the first couple of discs of da ali g show - hilarious.
- sleeper - old woody allen movie about the future. or at least what people in the early 80s thought the future would be like. loved it.
- enron, the smartest guys in the room - i fell asleep at the end, but it was worth seeing in that 'i wonder what evil has been going on in businesses lately' way.

i have monster but haven't watched it yet. can't really bring myself to do it... yet.
