"Kira and I are taking Kai Opaka through the wormhole," Sisko informs Ops, in front of Julian, who stares at him with an expression of such earnest hope that Sisko feels guilty enough to offer an explanation for his being excluded: "I didn't want to take you away from your duties, Doctor."
"Oh, it's a slow day," Julian says swiftly, still favoring Sisko with a big brown-eyed stare he seriously swiped from a puppy somewhere.
Sisko relents, as all fathers must when presented with such boyish eagerness and enthusiasm. "All right," he says.
And Julian's face splits into a beaming grin.
