In Which Beth Actually Fulfills a Meme

I'm actually going to try to answer the icon meme, having utterly failed last time around . . . over two years ago, augh!

All the icons I use I made myself, and most of them are miniaturized versions of LOLs.  Two of the ones a_phoenixdragon chose aren't, so I'm starting with them.  ;-)  They're unusual in that they have no text at all.  I’ve actually made quite ( Read more... )

artistical, stargate, macgyver, memery, iconification

Oh man, so many goodies (and oldies but goodies) *smishes icons*. One thing I hesitated on about taking up making icons of the MacGyver episodes was that I might accidently step on your toes or use a similar quote or such, because really these are iconic *g* all of them, and if I ever come close, you just slap me with a tofurky ok! :D

Seriously, these are bringing on the good feels. <3

*looks very confused at the thought of having toes stepped on in this manner*

*blushes like whoa at having my work called "iconic" in any seriousness*

Man, am I glad I encouraged you!! The world can never have too many MacGyver icons.

If you ever do an icon that's more or less the same as any of mine -- well, your work is going to be in your style, which is not mine, which is all part of that lovely thing about human individuality and infinite variations on artistical something or other and I need more coffee. Right ( ... )

It's a deal! (I wouldn't say what I do has a style, more of an awkward stumbling *g*)

And too right your work is iconic. You've no idea how many times coming across a LOL in my LJ feed has put a smile on my face just when I have really needed it. <3

Jokes about MacGyver? T'was such a serious and gritty show!

*g* Isn't the name trick fun? I originally learned it from sidlj. We use it a lot at fic_rush, where one of the many loval customs is giving the supporting mods pretentious titles, such as idlewild_.

If the following explanation seems simplistic, please forgive me: I don't know how much computer code you do, so I'm going to risk overexplaining rather than possibly being incomprehensible. I hope it doesn't come across as pedantic or offensive.

To illustrate the trick, I have to substitute this kind of bracket: { } for this: < >, otherwise the illustration will turn into active code when I post the comment. LJ code uses < and > as brackets, which tell the LJ parsing engine that what's between them is code to be parsed and not text to be posted without parsing. Each expression has to start with a "<" and end with a "/>" to close it, like HTML code. The examples below will start with { and end with /}. So here goes ( ... )

I can't remember who I learned it from, but I had completely forgotten how to do it! So I'm glad you explained it here, lolmac. :-)

That...is frigging awesome. I've been here on ElJay for a long time and I've never seen this (and I've seen a lot of coding/code working here). Soooo...lemme see if I can make this cooperate:

Edit: OMG, YAY!!! Need to remember this one!!
