Signal Boost: writing grant for "working-class/impoverished writers"

I wish the amount of the grant were higher (by about 40x), but here it is:  a $750 grant for people writing speculative literature who meet certain criteria.  Quite frankly, of all the writers I know, maybe half a dozen at most do not qualify.  Examples of qualifying criteria:  "you're American and qualify for the earned income credit [or] you live ( Read more... )

Sadly, no...no real original fiction. And I'm not making it a career. But there are plenty of people who deserve this and should definitely go for it!

It doesn't matter that you aren't in it for a career -- and you need and deserve it as much as anyone! Can you find a fic that will hold up if you file off the serial numbers?

The whole point of the grant seems to be to support the voices of those who have real difficulty finding the time and energy to write, since worrying about food and rent and supporting families drains so much energy. You could damn near write the book on that, so to speak!
