Apparently, no one noticed that I had two day sixes. I fixed it, and now everything's correct.
It was rainy and humid today, and I was unbelievably tired for some reason. I was seriously considering not walking (that's getting to be a theme, isn't it?), but decided to try drinking a caffeinated drink. About a half hour later, I was alert enough to walk.
It was even later than last night, and dusk was starting to settle in when Manny and I left. The bunny was sitting on the curb at the corner across from our yard. He watched as we walked down the street, and just as we drew opposite him, ZOOM! He was twenty feet into the yard. 20 feet seems to be his magic 'safe' distance. As we continued down the street, I looked between two of the houses and spotted a second bunny in someone's side yard. I couldn't tell if he was watching us or not.
The yard with all the pine trees was hosting 2 pairs of robins as we passed. The yard had been cut today, and apparently something yummy had been exposed in the shorter grass, judging by the way they were acting.
We got to the park, and the change in our route. Oh, and that reminds me. When I was mapping the route on Map My Walk tonight, I looked at the satellite photo and counted the baseball diamonds in the park. There are 10. Which should give you some idea of how noisy it can get in the early summer.
As we started down the new route, Manny kept wanting to stop and sniff all the new smells. He wanted to go visit the father and son practicing catching fly balls. And when we got near the fish pond - yes, the park has a fish pond, which is home to Canadian geese and ducks, and is a stopping point for migrating Canadian geese - he wanted to stop every three feet. At first, I couldn't tell what he was sniffing. Then I finally got a good look and realized it was goose droppings! I'd forgotten that they wander all over that end of the park and leave presents wherever they go.
We got safely past the pond and started the leg back, which was pretty uninteresting. The robins and rabbits were gone, and the street lights were coming on by the time we got home.
Oh, and the new route? It's .72 miles long. And I'm feeling pretty darn good!
