I have a weird question to ask you...

"I have a weird question to ask you..."

I was woken up with these 8 little words.

8 words that preceded "is it raining in your room?"

...

I had planned on sleeping in this morning. It was not to be. "I have a weird question to ask you...is it raining in your room?" penetrated my foggy brain almost instantly, like caffeine and a smoke generally does. I got up and walk into the hallway. There in the doorway of the bathroom/hallway is a puddle of water. I look at the puddle then I look at my roommate, a confused look on my face. She pointed to the ceiling where I saw water dripping from the doorjamb.

It was raining in our apartment. Ok. not a lot but still...there was water coming from places it shouldn't be and ending up where no water was meant to be.

I ended up taking the 5 year old to school and getting the roommate some food from 7 11. I get back and find out that yes, we can use the shower (rock on! I wasn't relishing the thought of dragging all of my stuff to work and showering there).

Apparently while I was gone the landlord and maintenance guy went upstairs to find out what was up. Christi was listening to them ask the lady upstairs about the water. She said she hadn't used the water or the toilet.

...

she said this as water was dripping out of her apartment and over the balcony down to our front door. go figure.

Christi informed me as I was leaving that it looked like we were going to have to have a big hole in the wall to dry things out. I suggested we get a frame to put around it and call it modern art. At least we can pretend the hole is supposed to be there.

I just got home and got an update. Apparently the lady upstairs came to the door, very groggy and with wet hair. She said she hadn't used the water and wouldn't let the landlord and maintenance guy inside, claiming that her kids lost the key. They then had to break into the apt where they found water as far as the eye can see. The lady then left the house and hasn't been back.

We now have a hole in the ceiling of the bathroom. I still think a picture frame around it would add a nice touch and would be quite a conversation piece.
