The passage of three months has been quick, but they have been so action-packed that three months ago might as well have been a year ago. Three months is an odd increment in some ways, but as someone who is back in school and operating on a seasonal schedule with a segment lasting roughly from September to December, it's a logical increment to me. Thus, today I feel more strongly reminded of the passing of George Parks, the original Dynamic Drum Major. The UMMB season has been over for eleven days and final exams are the obsession of the week for both the U of A and UMass, but in the thick of it, today's date of the 16th is poking me and others for attention. The dust settled a while ago and I have long since stopped feeling distracted by this scenario that I never imagined in my nightmares, let alone wildest dreams, but I still think about him literally every day. Sometimes it's a fleeting thought resulting from a phrase or quote still circulating in my current lexicon; sometimes it's a regret that he's gone; and sometimes it's a drawn-out lamentation. At any rate, I guess I'll have to be trite and simply say that I can't believe it's been three months. Long live Sparky! Bandos never say "die"!
