She often found printed lists of Harker's, memorials set up to him and people still whispering his name like some secret chant. There was a rumor the Magistrate had him killed and the last post by him was a fake keeping his legacy alive as a martyr of sorts.
Claire tried to put these rumors to rest as best she could-- but no one really listened to the blond girl with the creature friends. She shuffled past the small crowds of people who were coming out to start filling the clubs and bars of the Bete Noire night, but stopped when she noted a familiar thick framed pair of glasses....
and blanched when she saw what else the vampire was wearing because what the hell"Hey! Hey, sorry ugh excuse me--! Conrad! Hey- stay right there!" Claire made her way straight towards him with a half smile. The other half ( ... )

Something about the girl brought her up cold, the whole...perky blonde thing. Something stirred, some kind of defensive reaction kind of like hate and kind of like fear and a little like envy slicing right under the surface like a shark.
Except...no. It faded quick, whatever that second of recognition was, once the girl got closer. Hands in her pockets nice and casual, her head weaved as she gave her the once-over. She wasn't up to anything, honest. "Yeah?"

Claire was happy to see the vampire actually getting out, but a part of her...sank at the thought that his new behavior was somehow apart of that-thing-that-happened-which-she-does-not-discuss.
Her smile dropped into a frown for a moment, but she quickly picked it back up.
"What on Earth are you wearing though? Are you on some kinda job? Because uh-that's er... some leather going on there.

"Do I usually do a lecture?" That kind of matched up with what the other guy said, about how she was generally up in people's business and yelling all the time.

Isn't there a saying about bad things coming in threes? Well, two are covered...so it seems like number three is going to be managing to track down "Conrad" ( who does not feel as Conrad should feel ) for a face to face talk.
At this point, not even the real Conrad was used to the creepy trick of just suddenly appearing out of nowhere that Zangetsu was prone to. No footsteps, no breathing, not even a heartbeat for warning. Just shadows, and then some kid who looks no older than fourteen with a black cloak on standing in the weak shadows cast from streetlamps ( ... )

Damn, it's on the tip of her brain. Voices, maybe? But that doesn't seem right, she's not a crazyperson. Probably.
Voices that would've for example given her a heads-up on the appearance of someone out of thin air. She has to rely on vampire reflexes instead...it's a good thing those are still crazy fast.
"Yeah?" She swings around, hands spread. "You got a problem?"

"What are you?"

Some part of her wanted to reach a little and find out, but nothing happened. She wasn't even sure what she thought would happen.

It didn't matter. Laph had his handheld hidden, but he'd caught Aerodactyl and was now going out to search for 'Conrad'. Whoever was in his body didn't have the same moral instincts, and Lance wanted to make sure it wasn't misused.
So that was why he was walking the street with a frown, scanning the area as he made his way from Conrad's apartment, trying to work out the route 'Conrad' might have taken.
((OOC: If there's even a tiny bit of physical contact I can work some magic to get Lance to keep his mouth shut more permanently. :3))

It was later on in the night and she was feeling the rush of not starving half to more-death anymore, she had that blood hot and pumping and making everything good. Not that she couldn't go for another bite but now she felt like she actually could kick in a door.
Hands in her pockets, she was heading back to the office-slash-apartment, wondering if her buddy the thing with the extra everythings would be there.

This meant he was going in the opposite direction he'd started at, moving along the street close to the buildings and keeping an eye out for a figure in ... actually, he wasn't sure Conrad would be dressed as usual. So he just kept an eye out for everything, scanning every person he passed.
Eventually, a familiar profile caught his eye and he paused, looking toward it. The person in question wasn't moving anywhere near like Conrad did, but that didn't mean much.

The staring got old real quick, though, so she did a little test drive on the juiced-up and improved Conrad, stepping up real quick and close with a grin. "Somethin' I can help you with there, Red?"

But he was out here anyway, striding about trying to pick up the scent because there was something just wrong and Spike was curious. That was all.
He found him, finally, watching the crowd with a downright predatory gleam in his eyes. Well. Maybe he was just finally acting normal. Spike stopped, watching.

She followed for a little bit, on the hunt, until she slowed, stopped and turned with narrowed eyes. "...what?"
Some guy was watching her, one she got a crazy familiar vibe from

"Don't let me stop you," he said, waving his hand. "Trust me, first time I've seen you act like a proper vampire. Don't want to interrupt."

She tossed her head, a gesture that would've played better if she had more hair. "Tastes like shit, screw that."
