It goes without saying that I've been busy.
Dusty gave me a bit of a bumpy ride but now he's on the joint treatment Adequan and everybody seems pretty confident that will make the difference for him. I'm hopeful but waiting to see the results before I start singing any praises.
I was pleased that when he did buck I didn't become unseated or unsettled. I know what I'm able to do and what I'm not. We also had a nice little thing happening with Daisy because of Dusty. For all of those months that she complained that she had to ride Dusty instead of the lesson horses, now she's comfortable hopping onto the green horses and directing them instead of just being a passenger. She was given a green wee Arabian to ride for a kids clinic because of her level of experience and she absolutely loved it.
Matt's also noticed a change in himself brought on not necessarily by Dusty alone (although I'm sure he helps) but by just being around the horses. He told me yesterday that he doesn't know what it is, but being around them always puts him into a good mood and calms him down when he's feeling worked up. Maybe it's their sometimes stoic/sometimes playful nature. Occasionally mischievous, sometimes standoffish, rarely malicious. They don't tend to be needy, but appreciate and reward affection. And their fuzzy ears, funny expressions, and quirky individual personalities. Maybe that's what puts him in a good mood. Whatever it is, I like it. :-)
As for me, I haven't been riding for a week and I feel just really bloody tired most of the time right now. Thankfully I should be getting my schedule back on track pretty soon. I think I need more movement and less peanut butter.
