Historically, my birthdays have been less than stellar. This year has been a really nice exception to that rule.
First, a huge Thank You goes out to Michael and Christine for hosting our shared birthday party on Saturday evening in their lovely private pub, The Mop and Bucket. Really, awesome. I couldn't imagine two better (or better looking) hosts.
Today, Matt let me sleep in, then woke me with breakfast in bed. Eggs over medium cooked in butter with that little bit of crisp burned butter on the edges just like my grandma used to make.
After that, a brief nap on the couch before crawling into the shower and then running off for a lesson and to achieve my one birthday goal, canter both directions all the way around the arena confidently. Right, no problem. Left, can be a bit bumpy. Today though, after a battle to put him into it, Dusty went into the left lead relaxed and only had a couple of sticky points that I was able to get him through without any major issues. Still working but my birthday goal was achieved and I feel good about that. Felt even better about the fact that I could do it in short sleeves because the sun finally came out. :-)
Next, a quick drive to Lynnwood for some Olympus Spa action with my cohort Dominique. General relaxation happened in hot tubs and saunas and tried out a body wrap. Not necessarily an experience that I'll do again, but it wasn't entirely without merit. More relaxing in more hot tubs and it was time to head back home for dinner ala Matt and my gift. I am now the proud owner of a Kindle. I've downloaded The Help to start later this evening.
Tonight, Stella Artois and relaxing on the couch with a bowl of Tuscan melon and well, that's just about it. :-)
