last night

was perfect..... in so many ways.... and that is not a word i use often.

we headed to morrisons, collected a bunch of food and some other stuff, although they oddly didnt have any disposable barbeques, but we had the makings of a feast fit for a king... and then drove back out to the beach, collecting barbeques from the co-op, as we'd seen them in there earlier int he day, and made our way over to longsands, and settled down with the rugs and stuff.... dug a pit for the barbeque, and then yves and i went into the sea, properly.... because the sea was so cold we did not stay in there very long at all, but we swam as opposed to dipping our toes, whilst jack opted for the grown up option of looking after the stuff.

there's something about being in the sea...being sensible monkeys though we came out in good time, and headed back to dry off whilst there was still some sun to warm us a little, and had a beer and played some guitar. taught yves the rudimentaries of fingerpicking - something i'm not exactly good at myself, but we got there, and immediately promised i'd change his guitar strings for him today, as the ones on there have been on for years now and they hurt :S

we got the first bbq up and running and popped some shallots in skins on there, as well as some bread to toast - something i've never done and i don't know why cause it's yummy.... whilst i started preparing some kebabs, both veggie and meaty for us all. we remembered to bring a knife which was a good plan, and bought some plastic plates and cups as well, which will come in useful for me later on anyhow, and at 99p for 4 plates and 4 cups... not going to argue. potato croquettes also on with some quorn sausages.... food was lovely, amazing conversation, and as it got dark we had the heat of the barbeque and the lanterns providing a bit of extra warmth in addition to the extra clothes as we knew it would turn cold...

i headed down to the waters edge as it started to get dark properly after the sun had set and watched the stars start to come out, and the waves get harder to see. eventually headed back up to the top end of the beach where we all reluctantly began to pack up our things and after making sure the barbeque was properly out and cooled collected everything up and began to head back to the car passing two or three bins on the way which received our rubbish with great thanks, and drove back. Jack was tired so went to bed nearly straight away, so yves and i made some hot chocolate (for any of you hot chocolate afficionados out there it was whittards white and dark  hot chocolates) and proceeded to talk into the night about all sorts of things.

so what does today bring?
well after jack has gotten up (we were all tired out from the sea so i'll forgive him for sleeping in ;) ) i'm going to get all of my stuff packed ready to go, and as jack has a lecture in the afternoon, i think the plan is that the three of us will head into town, jack to his lecture and yves and i to go find some strings to sort his guitar before heading back to collect my stuff before going to the pub for a meal and drink before i head to catch my train back to sheffield.

im immensley sorry to be leaving, but im hoping to be back soon, and in the meantime i shall be expecting a visit for a geeky weekend sometime in the not too distant future i hope.
