Poor little bunny

For Gandalf and Boudicca, it's shedding time again, and that means we need to keep a close eye on Boudicca.  For a tiny bunny with a tiny stomach, she sheds so much hair that inevitably she will get some stuck in her stomach.  Last night I let those two out to run, and after being cheery and upbeat for an hour, she went and sat in the corner with a little bunny frown on her face.

I let another hour go by (it's already after 11 pm at this point), and she was refusing treats at that point, so it was time for action!  We gave her some Ovol (gas remedy for babies), and Julia gave Boudicca a little tummy massage.    Every ten minutes or so we would pretend to pick Boudicca up, which annoyed her enough to jump to her feet and run away from us.  We felt bad for bothering her, but she needed to move around so that the Ovol could do its magic and loosen things up.  Off and on during this time we could hear her crunch her teeth from across the room - when it's that loud, you know the bunny is in a lot of discomfort.  We force-fed her a couple CCs of water and apple juice, then gave her another 0.5 mL of Ovol later on.  Finally Boudicca left one little angry poop when we were bothering her, and we knew that things had started moving again.  That was good enough for us (at least for the night), so we put her and Gandalf away finally - it was almost 2 am!

This morning when I came down, I offered her one of her favourite treats, which she immediately started munching on.  When Julia fed them about 15 minutes later, Boudicca grabbed some of the greens and started eating - hooray!  You have to watch out when you have a little two-pound bunny, and half of her (volume-wise, at least) seems to be made of fur!
