A Christmas Eve to Remember...

Jun 19, 2011 15:47

The morning started out as all their mornings had on Vacation, a lazy cuddle and snuggle under warm covers before getting up to a family breakfast. After breakfast Berwald and Tino would go outside to clear the drive of overnight snow and then a lazy day playing board games or watching Christmas Movies in the family room. Eino was still getting his clubs in order in his bag as he watched his wife dance around admiring the bracelet she got from Berwald.

"Honey when you die we'll have you buried with all your jewelry and when they dig you up in 1000 years they'll think you were a viking burial." He teased his wife gently about her jewelry collection. Tiina just loved sparklies.

She just stuck her tongue out at him. "Here, Berwald, you have a turn. This is from Eino and me." She said, hanging him a brightly wrapped package. "Be careful, it's fragile."

Inside the wrapping was a beautiful blue dala horse.

"I did a case for a woman who paints these, she'd been getting a divorce and wanted to keep custody of all the dala horses in her house. I knocked down a chunk of her legal fees so she said she'd make a custom one and I instantly thought of you. This was back in early October, actually, so we've been hanging onto it waiting for you to get here for Christmas." She gushed.

"A Dalahäst, I had one of these when I was little, almost exactly the same." Berwald said setting it reverently on the coffee table. He'd have to find a good place to display it when they got home, he didn't have anything like it, in fact this was the ONLY knick-knack he had.

Eino's watch came next in the doling out of gifts from under the tree.

"OH, thank you very much Berwald." Eino said, admiring the watch as he took his regular one off and slipped the new one on. "It's very nice. I hope it wasn't too expensive."

"Mummi, I have one for you." Tino added, holding out a wrapped gift to his grandmother. "Berwald actually was the one who made it. I tried and... well... failed so he kind of made me a new one so that I could paint it for you." He smiled, giving her a peck on the cheek. Inside was a bird house.

"Oh Ti it's very pretty, my little artist. I can't wait til spring so I can hang it out there for the birds. Who knows, maybe I'll get a nest with chicks." She smiled. "Thank you for helping him Peikko." She added, winking at Berwald.

"It wasn't a chore. I love to build things and hate to paint them so it works out best this way. I had a closet full of projects Tino has taken over with his paint. He's got talent." Berwald replied glad that everyone had liked their gifts. There was another one under the tree for Tino from Berwald. Just a warm little fleece throw to curl up on the couch with:

It was simple but he knew Tino would use it often, he loved to curl up with a throw to watch television or read a book.

"MOOMINS!" He called out happily. he did not care if people called him a moomin-phile! They were fucking cute! Oh if only Tove Jensen would return from the great beyond he'd worship her.

Tino scrambled over with the throw and pulled it tight around himself and cuddled in close to Berwald. "You are the best sulhaseni on the planet and I love every molecule in your big body." He cooed, snuggling in closer.

He got two more Moomin items from his parents and Mummi.

(Surprisingly, Tino had gotten Eeva the same lunch pail by coincidence!)

"Ti you're so easy to please." Berwald said kissing Tino's brow. It had been a wonderful Christmas. He'd gotten the Dalahast from his future in-laws, and he had gotten the coat and boots as an early present from Tino. (Because he had NEEDED THEM EARLY) He still hadn't managed to go out and buy gloves or a stocking cap, thankfully Eino had seen Berwald shoveling with SOCKS on his hand and had loaned him his gloves. for the task.

But the best present had come in the form of Tino saying yes to his proposal, he didn't need anything else.

Hell this was the first time he had even GOTTEN ANYTHING AT ALL for Christmas in a DECADE he felt spoiled rotten already.

Coat and boots practical and warm.
Dalahast beautiful art piece impractical but lovely
and Tino as a fiance.

Yup, this was officially the best Christmas ever!

"You're not done yet Mister." Mummi chuckled, gently handing him another gift. This one was in a frame. It could be felt through the wrapping paper.

Once it was pulled off it was a needle point piece, it was from one of those kits because it was signed in gold thread 'Mummi' and had the finishing touch gold needle pinned into it still.

"Gonna need that with you two making a house of your own." She chortled, her sister joining in with her as they shared a shit eating grin.

Tino had just finished giving his mother a perpetual calendar for her desk at work when he wandered over (on his knees as he was too lazy to stand back up) to see what she made for Berwald.

((Ignore the text on it I couldn't get it blanked. >3>))

"Aw Mummi that's cute." Tino cooed. He'd dragged over three more gifts. "These are the last three I got you, I know it's probably a lot but they're little things and I really wanted to spoil you because you haven't had a Christmas present in years and I really wanted to make up for as many years as I possibly could." He said and then took a big gulp of air as that had been spewed out all in one breath.

"Oh TiTi, thank you. I kept forgetting to get gloves and I love the hat. Berwald said plonking it on his head and then opening the cologne to sniff it.

"That is nice." He said dabbing a bit on his neck. "So Do I stink okay?" He asked Tino with a grin.

"You always stank good, but this was just special because I smelled it at the mall and thought it'd smell good on you." He smiled, leaning in to sniff on Berwald's neck. "Super sexy in that hat by the way." He grinned, tying the ear flaps under the Swede's chin. "And guess what? I'm draging you in and out of the snow from now on that you're properly geared."

Berwald left the hat on, not caring a lick that Tiina was taking enough goofy pictures and video of him he knew he would never be able to piss her off... she had too much blackmail material now.

"I know you, you want a snowman don't you?" Berwald asked setting his gloves and cologne next to the dala horse and needlework on the coffee table.

"yyyyyyyyyyyyEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!" he said, building it up slowly. Of course he wanted a snow man! They had enough snow out there to make a snow platoon now!

"We should try to make one as big as you." He cooed, his eyes lighting up with all sorts of crazy creative ideas for what they could do with nature's sculpy out there.

"Snow is freaking heavy. I'm strong, but not that strong to roll around a base if you want to make a Snowman as large as me. Let's settle on one your height!" Berwald groaned thinking of the WORKOUT he was going to have later.

All the presents were finally doled out, food was being raided again, and Berwald went upstairs to put their booty away in their bedroom. He was humming a low tune... rather surprisingly WELL.

He was usually so quiet it was rare to have him humming, he had a nice mellow deep bass and if he actually sang he'd probably be very GOOD.

He was setting his Dala horse on the Window Sill to look at on display until it was time to pack and head home again in a couple of weeks.

"Hey handsome." Tino smiled, standing in the doorway, he'd been silent and simply listened for a moment before speaking. It was rare to hear Berwald humming and he wanted to hear the whole tune before he ruined the moment. "Can I kiss you properly for my gift?" He asked, turning the ring around on his finger.

Tackling Berwald to the floor and molesting him hadn't been proper enough? Apparently the tiny little fella didn't feel it was.

Berwald just turned around and held open his arms in welcome. "Absolutely, min fästman" Berwald grinned welcoming Tino into his arms and folding him into an embrace for long, sweet, and endearing kiss.

When the broke apart Berwald took Tino's left hand and ran his thumb over the ring sitting perfectly on his ring finger.

"Swedish Gold, with Stones the color of the Finnish Flag. Seven stones, one for every year I have loved you until the day I marry you." Berwald explained the hidden meaning of the ring resting on his betrothed's hand.

"Is this what you were getting Mummi and äiti's help with picking out?" He sighed out his question. "And here I was thinking it was probably clothes or something. I was half expecting thermal socks." He teased, pushing Berwald backwards gently so that the giant was sitting on the bed. Tino crawled on up and straddled one of the Swede's legs and stood on his knees on the mattress. There, now their faces were perfectly level.

"You are, in more ways than I can count, probably the most creative, most thoughtful and most sensitive man on the planet. And it's all kind of bundled up under one incredibly macho mass of tendons and sinew." He grinned as her wrapped his arms around Berwald's shoulders and buried his face into the cologne dabbed neck.

"Really, I did nothing to deserve you, nothing that I ACTIVELY tried to do anyway. Never go thinking you have to earn anything from me. Not love, not hugs-" he gave his giant squeeze, as tight as he could! "Not kisses either." He added, smacking his lips against the Swede's and making his favorite sloppy-kisses hum. "Mmmmmmmmmmhua~!"

"I knew I wanted us to be together for the rest of our lives, but I guess I completely forgot marriage. Now, though, it's really concrete. Not just 'I want us to be together the rest of our lives' but 'we ARE going to be together the rest of our lives' this is so damn cool I can't wait to tell Siguard and Mads and Feliks!" He cheered, throwing himself over on his side. "Feliks will be the one to spaz out about this I know it." He grinned, imagining his eccentric transvestite friend's reaction in his head.

"Just don't let him coerce you into a wedding dress! A white tux with tails and a sky blue cummerbund and tie I think. " Berwald said falling backward on the bed and Bringing Tino down on his chest. "But not until you graduate. We have time to plan the wedding yet and of course we'll have it here where all your family is maybe even out in the yard." Berwald daydreamed out loud.

"We can have it over the summer break after your senior year and when we go back for college, you'll be a married man..." He added, his eyes were dreamy with envisioning their nuptials in his head.

"I love you so much. I'd marry you tomorrow if I could."
