Stargate SG-1 Slashfic -"Divine" and ranting about writing

Jan 22, 2007 12:22

This past lives thing of sunrayinn's has been a real kick in the head for the Jack/Daniel part of my brain... mind... er... thing. It's such fun and so freeing to be able to ignore canon altogether and just do my funky stuff. I hope this doesn't mean that the normal sg fic part of the brain thing has died on me completely.

*prods sg part of brain thing, but gets no response*

I don't want to lose my sg security blanket, and I know that past lives isn't everyone's cuppa, but writing due South is just so darn satisfying at the moment. I'm not one of these acomplished, clever buggers who can just write whatever and whenever they feel like it - which is why I do so few challenges. I just can't turn it on like that - wish I could, but I can't. I have to love the idea, the scenario and the characters a lot, and that doesn't just happen very often.

I know I always felt sad when a writer I loved moved on to a new fandom that I couldn't embrace. It happened quite a bit in SG-1. But it's only now I feel like it might be happening to me that I see that there's nothing you can do about it. If the ideas don't come, they don't come. And as sad as that makes me, *shrugs* I don't know what to do about it.

In the meantime, I write past lives pr0n... and keep Benton and Ray in a permanent state of undress.

Whatever gets you through..... :-)

So, fic, if you're interested. It's Egyptian! It's Early Dynastic period! It highlights the ancient dichotomy of the god/king question. It explores the human response to such a belief. It's just an excuse for gratuitous guy on guy fun actually, but humour me.
