Salam alaikum
Last night we had Khadija, her husband and his cousin over for dinner. It was really nice, we used the divider my husband created so we didn't have to wear our hijabs and what not. I made baklava which alhamdudilah turned out awesome once again ^_^. At jummah the imom gave my husband a bunch of dvds on islam for us to borrow, there was one entitled women in islam. Khadija and I watch it and were kind of dissapointed. On the cover they displayed a woman wearing niqab and assumed that there would possibly be someone wearing niqab in the interviews, NOT. I find it ridiculous how whenever they display "women in islam" they portray them to be women wearing makeup, showing their hair, not wearing hijab, and doing their eyebrows. And this is A'OK! It is not okay to be this way, it's against Allah's command. We shouldn't make ourselves look "cute" when out, beautify youself when you go to a womens gathering or just at home for your husband or just for yourself.. I mean I do it ! Lol. There is a hadith where it is stated that Allah (swt) curses the one who plucks the eyebrows and the one who gets the eyebrows plucked. So why are there so many women who do this? Why are there so many women who show their hair, neck, and breasts? It just makes no sense to me. Even after watching a documentary on saudi arabia, I only saw women with caked on make up and their eyebrows done. Come on people! Does it ever occur to you that satan wants you to change what Allah (swt) has created you with? Enjoy the things that are made permissable for us but don't go out of your way and make yourself look like a kafir. Sorry if I sound cruel, I just get so frustrated with this because I see it constantly. I strongly feel that the imom of our masjid needs to have a lecture on jummah addressing womens dress in islam. May Allah guide those who are being led astray by satan.
Today inshallah we're going to my grandparents house as usual. I also want to note that I totally dig my new hair cut :)
