Chiseled Cheeks from Barry M

Contour products are having their day in the sun these days. We've seen a number of contour palettes launch left and right. There's the Anastasia Contour Kit, the Kat Von D Light and Shade palette, the Smashbox contour trio in both pencil and powder form and many more. Of course, I'm curious to try them but since I'm not yet a contour pro, I decided to try one from the drugstore first. This is the Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit.

This is the first makeup I've tried from the brand and I have to say I'm impressed. The packaging is nice and for the price, I think it's pretty decent. I could do without the contouring instructions and just replace it with a mirror to make it more travel friendly.

The actual product inside does the job pretty well. You have a highlight color which as you can see from my swatch photo disappears on my skin so I use it as a setting powder instead. It's yellow based so it's good for setting concealer under the eyes. The middle shade is the dud, I would say. It has a lot of red undertone to be a good bronzer. Still, if I'm packing light and this is all I bring, I can make it work by mixing it with the contour color and a lot of blending.

The contour color is reason why I bought this. It's the perfect ashy brown color that creates that nice hollow for the chiseled cheeks effect. Of course, my application is not the best but I like playing with this little trio. I would gladly recommend this to anyone who wants a more budget friendly contour kit.
