Lipstick Month Post #3: Dior Addict Gloss in Papillon

Jul 03, 2013 18:10

This week is looking like a week dedicated to high end lip products. I don't have a lot so it's good to kind of talk about all of them in a week. The product I'm going to talk about is also part of my Week 24 haul from Rustan's. I am easily swayed by swanky packaging, I think that's pretty obvious. Because I actually bought this product without researching or reading any review about it. I did swatch it at the shop and liked the color. But honestly, I bought it mostly because I looooove the packaging. This is the Dior Addict Gloss in 583 Papillon.

Isn't it pretty? I like the tube, the embossed brand name and the silver top/cap. It's actually pretty hefty and feels more sturdy than other regular lip gloss tubes. Of course, my experience with lip gloss is very limited. I'm not really a gloss person but after using this, I think I might start a love affair.

.
I think I've swatched a number of glosses to know that most of them have a doe foot or sponge applicator. This one from Dior is different as it has a brush similar to nail polishes but much shorter and narrower. It looks weird in the photo but it deposits just the right amount of product and it somehow fits my lip shape which prevents me from going over the lines of my lips.

The color when swatched is pretty true to the color in the tube. It's a warm light pink color which is I have to the color I find most easy to wear. When applied on the lips, it can go sheer so that it adds just the lightest pink color to your natural lip color. Or you can also apply more products for a full opaque color. One thing I noticed about this gloss is that even though I apply coat after coat, it doesn't feel heavy and it's not sticky. However, as with most lip glosses, it doesn't stay that long on the lips. I wore this for a maximum of two hours and then I had to reapply.

I usually just wear this alone when I want a light wash of color on my lips but I've also recently layered it with my MAC Please Me lipstick and they are a match made in makeup heaven. Here's a picture:

So yes, I love it. Will I be buying more? Maybe not. But that's only because I also love the Dior Addict lipsticks and if I had to choose, I'll buy more of those. They're also hydrating, glossy and they have a good range of shades. So I'll probably get that one instead. But I will start looking into more drugstore lip glosses. I'm actually thinking about getting the Revlon lip gloss in Papaya. But we'll see. For now, I'm happy with the one lip gloss in my stash.
