Hotaru

So I've decided to start a new project, brought upon by boredom and stress and a need to relax myself. So here goes my own form of meditation/relaxation: Every day I will write a poem, in particular a haiku. (3 lines: 5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables). Eventually I plan on making a tiny book out of them to flip through when I need inspiration or something. Cheesy, I know, but it just might work. At the very least it provided a nice long distraction from my studying to come up with and set in motion this brilliant idea of mine. So anyway...

Here is my first haiku, inspired by the summery weather. Enjoy.

-Firefly-
Fireflies blinking
Points of light within the trees;
Stars brought down to earth.

and in Japanese with a more literal translation, cause it's slightly different, just cause I feel like it:

-Hotaru-................................-Firefly-
mori de miru..........................In the grove I see
hotaru matataku.....................fireflies blink;
hoshi orita............................. stars descended
