I am so sick of the presidential campaign. And talking about it in class. Every class is talking about voting and candidates. Or candidate. I am sick of hearing who everyone is voting for and then debating over the issues. And I absolutely sick of people bashing other's opinions and presidential candidates. I mean, the other day someone in one of my classes said something like 'if I see one of those bumper stickers on the back of someone's car I just want to rear end them reallly hard.' Come on people, get some respect. I may not agree with one candidates view on things and not particularly like them, but that doesn't mean I don't respect what they have to say. Contrary to others beliefs, I have looked over each candidates views, and know who my views coincide with more. It is just so frustrating when people will not respect your opinion and agree to disagree. Oh well...the horror will be over soon enough.
Anyhow I haven't updated this in a while.
This weekend was the MAAA/Mentor Retreat for LEAD Scholars. For those of you who don't know, MAAA stands for Mentor Academy Alumni Association. It is like being an unofficial mentor for the mentors. Each MAAA is paired with one or two mentors and it is kept secret until the retreat..and you send the anonymous emails, etc. The retreat was fun. Friday night, Zach, Aileen, and I all went out shopping to prepare for the retreat. For the retreat, we needed to make a candle for our person that we have been paired up with. We went to waayyy too many stores. Apparently, I took a really long deciding about my candle..at least according to Zach and Aileen. When we finally got home, Aileen made us tacos. Thanks Aileen! Then we worked on our candle.
The beach was surprisingly fun. I wasn't really in the mood to go to the beach, but I had a good time. We had Publix chicken and other food. It was interesting to see what the hurricanes have done to the beach...just weird.
On Sunday, I decided that ushers are annoying. Yes, that's right. It all started when I went to church at St. Joseph's in the morning for the first time in about two years. I don't really like going to church there, but I had no choice...long story. Anyways, Aileen came by my apartment and we went to church. St. Joseph's is what I like to call the urban mass. Throughout the whole service there were ushers waving their arms and pointing numbers out very noticingly. That was annoying. Then we had all planned to go to see Oklahoma! downtown. Just as the show was starting, and the music began to play, this really old man usher began escorting late comers to their seats. Well, as far as I know, the words to the first song in the show start with ROW M SEAT 4. And a whole bunch of other seat numbers. It got so bad that people were SHHHHHing him pretty badly.
Well I am off to make some Chicken Teriyaki. Wow, that entry was pretty boring.
