I just spent most of the day at the hospital where I had an evaluation to see if I'd be a candidate for a cochlear implant in my left ear. The good news is that seems I am. I got some more information on the implant and the surgery, talked to the surgeon (had to wait almost two hours to talk to him for two minutes), then had a CT Scan. I

Canceling Reno isn't a 100% possibility just yet, but there will be very little leeway in taking vacation time.

The hospital is the one at the U of I so it's a huge research hospital and it's been rather notorious in the past for long wait times and average service. Though I understand they're trying to do better at that stuff. I thought about maybe trying somewhere else, but I'm not sure there would be any other local that would do such a specialized surgery. And on the other hand, the surgeon in question did the very first cochlear implant in the whole country and I believe he helped to develop the device. I was told a few times that he's pretty much the one you'd want to do this operation.
