why?
"WASHINGTON, Nov. 14 -The nation’s Roman Catholic bishops voted overwhelmingly today to support initiatives based on traditional teachings that call for gay and lesbian Catholics to remain celibate and for married Catholics to reject artificial contraception."
I usually don't care to discuss my views on political issues. I usually write sappy or depressing entries about my days or my weekend breaks. But no one seems interested in hearing my rant, so I must get it out before I go work. I'm so pissed off. I'm disgusted. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. One Catholic bishop even said that gays who aren't celibate and those who use artificial contraception shouldn't receive communion. I'm sure the one in St. Louis would agree.
But where is the church on pro-war issue? Are those who vote for Bush and vote for the war - are they sinners? Do they not also deserve communion? What about all those who let that torture bill pass? Does anyone care that "God's children" can be tortured? Does anyone care about death penalty? Does the church speak out to help those suffering in Africa? Who were the people who perpetuated the priest-sex scandal -- UH, THE BISHOPS!
Some do. Some Catholics work for social justice. But too many sit back and do nothing - and say nothing about half of the issues that really matter. Why is the sperm so damn important compared to a human being? Aren't they both equally important - at least according to true Catholic teachings?
I stay Catholic because I love the Catholic Student Center. I love Gary, the music, the traditions. But it's REALLY hard for me to stay Catholic with all the moronic actions that takes place. It just makes me sick to my stomach. It makes me FURIOUS. Who are these people? Who do they think they are? I believe they have no right to tell me my morals - or anyone. They are some of the most immoral people ever - all those who were involved in the sex scandal. Those who weren't -they have more of a right to say that. But it's still disgusting.
