I have decided that I am going hiking this Sunday. I'd like company, but I've decided I'm going whether or not I can convince anyone to come with me. I'm considering doing
Saddle Mountain, which is supposed to be lovely. Any takers?
I've been much more productive this last week. What that means to me is I was never sitting around feeling bored and just wasting time. I've done far too much time wasting in the past year. I'm happy to report that piano playing has filled a significant chunk of this time. I've been playing around 2 hours/day since my lesson last Thursday, and I'm excited to have another lesson tomorrow. I initially had some trepidation about taking lessons again, thereby giving myself external expectations to meet. I've been trying to not to give myself shoulds and have-tos, but that wasn't working for me with music. I'm happy that taking lessons has seemed to motivate me to practice, but in a good way. It's not something I'm making myself do, it's something I'm actually enjoying. This is good! Sadly, my voice lesson which was supposed to be last Monday got cancelled, so I have to wait until next week.
I just all the sudden marveled at this wonderful thing called typing. It's so cool that my fingers just automatically know where they need to go to make letters magically appear on my screen at 60+ WPM or whatever it is I type these days. Okay, back to content.
After getting over the initial shock of getting in the choir, I'm actually excited about it. I wish their communication didn't suck so hardcore though. I was talking with a fellow teacher who performs with various choirs and it got me already thinking about trying to add another, one that specializes in renaissance and medieval music or somesuch. Maybe I should get going with one first though.
Also on the singing front, some old college friends who live in Portland contacted me a few days ago, and we're going to meet to sing some a cappella stuff and hopefully make it a regular thing. Fun!
