sleep experiment

Oct 05, 2008 22:02

I am going to try something different. I am going to get into bed at 10:00 PM. I will read a textbook for a bit, both because I need to read it for class and because I suspect it will put me to sleep. If I am asleep by 10:30, I will actually get 8 hours of sleep. This would be an unprecedented way for me to start my school week.

I had a really good time at the Burning Man decompression this weekend. Just getting out of this city was good. The event was on a private ranch by Flagstaff. Open space and gentle hills as far as you can see. The openness and scrubby sagebrush actually reminded me a lot of Sagewalk. I spent much time dancing, contact juggling, spinning poi, standing on my hands, etc. More importantly, I met some great people. I really like the burner community. Sadly, the closest friend I made is still 2 hours away. Having decompression be a multi-day camping event is so much better than a warehouse party. You really feel the community elements when you camp. People feed you pancakes, and you hang out by their fires and chat, and you see everyone waking up disheveled at noon after being up partying all night. You see them at home, so to speak. Much easier and nice for making connections.

Well, I already failed at 10:00PM. But I'll be close.
