She hadn't really done this before. Flying by herself. At least, not when it didn't involve a plane, anyway. It was really the first time she'd voluntarily used the Phoenix force and she had to admit, it definitely came in handy

Gwen had been spending most of her time these days with the team; Ben, Kevin, Ken and Devlin and as much as she loved her boys? Gwen did want to spend some time with girls her own age and do...well. Girl things.
She was looking forward to today.
She smiles at Bea's text and texted back the affirmative.
"I'll get it!" the redhead calls to her parents when the knock sounds. She pulls open the door and beams.
Bea beamed at the girl before throwing her arms around her and giving her a hug. She didn't have many girl friends anymore, so today was special. She'd lost Val and Sally when her world ceased to exist and now the Val she knew was six. So... that left out all kinds of things you could do. Somehow, she didn't think Gwen was going to want to have a tea party with Barbie.
"Hey! You ready for a day of being pampered and polished?"
Gwen laughed some, startled, when Bea hugged her, but she hugged back and smiled warmly.
"Am I ever!" And she was. She'd spent WAY too much time these days getting covered in alien gunk and gore. It'd be nice to have a day that didn't involve things like that.
"Um yeah, showing up in a thong bikini is kind of a no-no," She laughed, "And I'm cool with the bus if you are. I wouldn't wanna like, make a nuisance of myself my first time out here,"
"But Ben would probably love you forever. Guys." She teased, wrinkling her nose in playful disdain.
"I'm okay with the bus. I'm not street-legal yet, sadly, and I'd feel bad bumming a ride off of Kevin. But really it comes down to: Do you want to be caught dead in the Awesomemobile?"
She gestures to it.
It's held together with tape and rusting. It is not as Awesome as its name implies.
She giggled, nodding and rolling her eyes about boys in general. She didn't think Ben was like most guys, but an almost naked girl is the same in just about any guy's book.
"The Aweso..." Her eyes fell upon the car and she snorted. "Right. So bus it is then, yeah? And next time, we need to plan like, a few days ahead of time so I can just bring the Lexus out here. The thing practically drives itself,"
She followed Gwen closely and just took in the scenery around her. It wasn't so different from where she grew up. Her home, or rather her house from the reality that didn't exist anymore would have fit in perfectly here.
"It's um... oh! A 2007 Lexus GS450. My great-great grandfather had one and I said how much I liked it. So he bought me one. Which... he said it was because he didn't want me taking any more Greyhounds down to Savannah with the... what did he call it... unsavory types? I really think he was just happy someone in the family actually liked him,"
Which, considering that he'd kidnapped quite a few members and used their genetic material for experiments, was understandable.
Bellwood was a pretty nice town. Quite a bit of it had an old-timey appeal, like it was stuck in the fifties, and the neighborhoods were well-groomed and...completely ordinary. Sometimes the most extraordinary things happen in ordinary towns.
"Nice." She smiled. "...Grandma Verdona would probably buy me a car. I'm kinda her favorite. I'm the only one in the family that inherited her powers. So. But, she's an alien so it's not like she can. Hah. Anyways, I dunno what I want."
As the bus pulled to a stop, Bea climbed on and thought about how to describe Mr. Essex. Starting of with 'He goes by Sinister' didn't seem the best option.
"He's... different. Um, I think a lot of people are scared by how he looks and they just get this idea of him in their head. He's really old... well, obviously, but he doesn't look a day over 40. Oh, and he's a scientist and he's very, VERY polite. Like Victorian Era polite. Tea in the afternoon and everything. And, technically, he's not really related to me. Or at least, not that I know of. But he has had so much to do with my family that he may as well be,"
There. That was the nicest way she could say that the man manipulated my family's DNA and ergo created some of the most powerful mutants on the planet.
Gwen followed Bea onto the bus and paid their fair before going to find a seat towards the middle of the bus.
"That makes sense. I hate to say that looks are important, but they definitely make an impression. If someone looks mean and scary you'll probably be afraid of them." She laughed then at the idea of whatever monster she had envisioned Mr. Essex as sipping tea and her nose wrinkled. "We should get him and Verdona in a room together."
What Bea had left out, or rather, sugar-coated, Gwen would have understood; She's seen a lot of DNA manipulation in her time.
"So crazy. I mean, I should have expected it; Kevin was implying it since the day after we...not met, I knew him when he was eleven, um. The day we were reunited? I always thought my powers came from books and artifacts, but apparently it's my alien heritage." a pause. "Also, my grampa likes aliens. So. It shouldn't have been as surprising as it was considering I had met Xylene."
"Xylene?" Bea was definitely interested in learning as much as she could about everyone. Part of it was just being a curious teenage girl, but a lot of it had to do with the fact that she had very few close friends anymore. John and JP were it.
"Xylene is kind of indirectly related to everything that's happened in mine and Ben's life since we turned ten." Gwen explained. She was more than willing to tell, Bea was part of the family now, really. "She and Grampa Max were like...lovers. Ew, that's really gross to think about. Anyways, she sent the Omnitrix to Earth. She wanted Grampa Max to find it, but it ended up on Ben's wrist instead."
"Wow. That's... yeah. Kinda crazy. Looks like we have a lot in common. Alien entities, weird family trees..." She grinned, finding it odd just how accustomed she'd become to all of this. Just a year ago, she was living a perfectly normal life in a perfectly normal town. And now she was completely immune to the idea that her friends might have alien heritage and other things of that sort.
"It's funny, but honestly, Gwen? I don't have a lot of girl friends anymore. I mean, I used to back before I got displaced here and whatever, but... I'm really glad we are getting to hang out,"

"So... have we thought mode of transportation yet?"

"...Not really. Um. Bus? Or I can bug Ken to take us?"

"The Awesomemobile is sad. She's been pretty beat up." Gwen giggled. "Lexus? What model? What year?" She's already leading the way to the bus stop.
