Sharkbear: 7000% Deadly*
Although it hasn't been ages since I last posted, it has been ages since I last did a proper post, what with the telling of things and inner monologues and crack metaphors and things. Unfortunately, this trend will continue for a while yet.
It's still fiendishly hot and I'm still bitterly miserable, although I've finally got some gumption alongside that to get me sending out applications without spending hours considering options or freaking out over whether to send an unsolicited CV. I'm still trying to find something in the translation market, although I'm also still shying away from freelance work, because gods damn it, I want something that's constant and will get me the fuck out of here.
In related news, I apologized to my dad today for calling him something that, while you wouldn't necessarily say it to the Queen of England, you can perfectly well say it to your neighbour, his toddler or his dog. In other words, it wasn't that bad, and it certainly wasn't worse than what's been thrown my way, or his way, by other family members who will remain undefined although I'm sure y'all can guess who that is. Anyway, that happened the 7th, and I apologized today, and in the interim he was refusing to talk to me until I apologized. Which goes to show how unobservant he is of this family, because never once has anyone ever apologized to any family member about something said or done. Mostly we either forget about it, or revert to status quo until five years down the line when we throw it all back like a hand grenade scotch-taped to a molotov cocktail and a brick wrapped in kerosene. Also, it's not like he talked to me before, anyway. It's like that metaquotes of, if atheism is being listed a religion, then the poster wants an Olympic medal for all the ice-skating they didn't do.
In happier news, I'm listening to Dead in the Family, the latest Sookie Stackhouse novel, and I've read the latest Merit (i.e. Chicagoland Vampires) novel, Twice Bitten and I'm watching Grey's Anatomy (now only rarely making me cry!) and I've read the first fic in months - halcyon_shift's On the Wire series for The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Seriously, it's been months and months since I did anything but briefly skim through a fic. Most of the ones I link to I barely go so far as to read the summary, although I know from the title or pairing that I want to read it. But I never got the interest to sharped enough to actually muddle through - because I feel like I am muddling through, forcing my tiny little fannish brain to focus - and read it. Which, to be honest, I've been doing a bit with On the Wire - skipping bits, skimming others - but at least I'm not giving up on the story and I'm actually interested in what's happening. That's a good thing.
If y'all know of any memes out there, meme me. (I know, I never finished the 30 Days Meme - it's on my desktop, okay?) Apparently I can do meme, if nothing else.
