Sickle's "Oh dears gods, where did the time go?!?" Post-Points:
Life and Times:
- Italian class picking up a bit. We've actually used the books a few times, and there's been a few minutes of conversation. Useful learnings, we can has!
- I had a job interview yesterday.
It was at 9:30 and I was on the train at 8 (although the damn thing was then delayed fifteen minutes). I arrived half an hour early, so I took a coffee and quietly freaked out in the bar's bathroom. Then off to small, one room office and entirety of the company.
I met three employees and the two owners - husband and wife couple - and there's another employee who's being added to the group. So yeah, small. The interview lasted one hour, in which I learned about the company, its history, its latest projects and so forth. I even spoke to two of the employees about what they did. But as for what I was supposed to do, it was pretty vague, basically coming down to literature research (although they hadn't quite thought the literature-is-not-free-access-and-you-need-lots-of-it-to-do-anything aspect) and then modeling everything together so that you could do risk assessment. (Yeah, I didn't quite get it either.)
Anyway, I really don't think that's the road I want to take. I mean, I has learnings! In other thingies! Blargh.
Anyway, the interview took an hour, ending at 10:30, then I waited for the (goddamn son-of-a-tin-can) bus for half an hour, then waited for the train some fifteen or twenty minutes, then took the train for half an hour, then got on the bus and waited for the driver to decide to start his route, then walked some five or six blocks to get to where I usually get off the bus and walked a while from there then snuck into class at 12:20, figured out what we were doing, then during break caught up on correcting the homework and the notes I'd missed. Needless to say, I was dead to the world that afternoon.
- I've been having incredibly anxious dreams - my version of nightmares, in that if I freak out or actively feel fear, it's a nightmare - this past week. I've had dreams where:
a) I was packing my room away and had just finished with books when I realized a had a whole bookshelf full (but how?!? I'd just emptied it!) to pack and there was no way to do so
b) the train to Holandspoor was completely gone and I had no way of getting home
c) on an airplane, writing on the window, then getting off the plane directly onto a bus (the dream's version of an airport) and then riding through the city - Chicago - but I can't find the damn airport because it doesn't exist anymore and I'm going to miss my plane, so I finally go to where the airport used to be and instead find a whole line of people sitting on a bench overlooking a massive lake at night, and my brother is waiting for me because he knew I was flying (even if there's no airport)
d) I've rented a lovely studio and am ready to slump into bed to enjoy my first night there despite it being the early afternoon because I'd been up all night and all day doing things and was exhausted, when in bursts a whole crowd of people who make themselves at home in my room as if it were a cafe, smoking (to which I forcefully declare that there is no goddamn smoking in there) and drinking and eating my food and making a mess. And it turns out that they had a right to be there, or at least claim to - I make a mental note to check the lease, because that shit can't be real, I couldn't have signed knowing that - and they say that since the bar next door doesn't open until later, I am obligated to let them in and use my place as a bar everyday from 3 to 6, that I even have to be home every day to let them in, that my home is basically public property. I felt about as wonderful as you can imagine. And then, to make matters, worse, I then explore and realize that my studio isn't really a studio, but the entrance to - and living room of - a student residence, and those students aren't obligated to host bar patrons, and gah. I was really exceptionally upset with this dream.
The Fandom Life:
- There is a reason I never really got around to watching The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and that reason is that this movie's ending will frickin' rip your heart out after chewing on it thoroughly for over an hour. One review says merely, "Utterly devastating," and damn, that's it in a nutshell.
- I haven't even watched Doctor Who, much less Lost (which, omg, so looking forward to that). Happy (or utterly soul-destroying, whichever) Supernatural finale, y'all!
