Mankind has a natural predator, the psychopath*
So here I am at home with 8 bound copies of my thesis (6 for the supervisor, 2 for me) when I realize that, since I've added an extra database (photographs), I'm going to need to change the database list. In each copy. By painfully rebinding. And editing and resaving and reconverting to PDF. Cue argh.
I've just watched Karla (2006) featuring Laura Prepon and Misha Collins as Karla Homolka and Paul Bernardo of serial-rapist-and-killer notoriety in Canada (including "The Scarborough Rapist" crimes). Holy mother of gods, gah. While the film isn't violently explicit (mostly showing reaction shots to rape happening off-screen), it's still gotten me all flaily and incoherent. (Although that may be more the wiki article I read after, listing the very many rapes and murders and all the times that evidence wasn't seen for what it was.)
I can definitely see why Misha Collins really didn't like this project - apart from trouble he may have had with the director (oh rumours, why you so vague), he's said that the portrayal of the character was really hard on him. (Or something like, I'm a bit vague on things right now and my internet's being an uncooperative bitch.)
Although, I think Misha's acting was pretty good (says the girl who sucks at judging these things). I couldn't feel for the character much, though, even when he was a wreck, because of the whole utter, utter bastard wall in the way. On a more shallow note, he was pretty, with unruly scraggly blondish hair and muscles.
Laura Prepon of That 70s Show was alright. Since the movie's told from her point of view (as she is telling it to a psychologist making an evaluation for possible parole), the unreliable-narrator version of the story works.
Thankfully, I'll have the ER episodes with Misha soon, where he's totally not a psychopath and a much gentler lover ( according to one delicious GIF at least). Yays.
