The Sungod festival was FREAKING AWESOME!!
I wake up to go see the performance my salsa club was putting on in the price center. So I walk out of my building and damn. It was a circus of drunk people, and the mob just got denser and denser as I got to the price center where the performance was being held. On the library walk, where on a normal day up to 20 people would be there sitting reading or doing homework or some shit, smashed people were fucking clubbing at the vendor booths set up all along the walkway. And in the fountains that run into the price center, bubble bath had been poured, so people were jumping in splashing bubbles at each other. It was very weird. There were too many drunk people for the cops to arrest, although they were still trying anyways. And there were so many hot chicks I had never seen before, I almost felt compelled to tackle the drunk bitches.
Anyways, on to the actual show. I walk to the field where the actual concert festival was being held and I hear something familiar. Once it got to the chorus I realized who was onstage as OZMA was in the middle of playing battlescars, which sounds just as good live as it does on the recording. I dont think most people even knew who they were though cause no one was really interested.
After OZMA was some terrible pop punk band, and after them was Talib Kweli who was REALLY cool. I especially loved this Hip Hop remix of Elenor Rigby that he did.
After Kweli came Cypress Hill. Now, I only remembered Rock Superstar and Insane in the Membrane when I was thinking of Cypress Hill, so I thought they were gonna blow. Contrary to my bias, they fucking rocked. They did some AWESOME like improv percussion which was really really cool, and I actually knew a lot more songs than I thought I did. I was satisfied especially when they did Dr. Green Thumb! And halfway through their set they blew up a giant rubber buddha which had an upside down leaf on it's belly. Pretty fucking cool!
After them came My Chemical Romance. And fuck that shit. They arent really anything special. But whatever, Im biased as I only like Helena...and only parts of that song anyways.
All in all it was a great day. I only wish I had gotten drunk, but I had to makesure I was keeping an eye on Janayn, since she came down to visit for sungod. Whatever, next year.
