Story Idea...
... The sad part is? This story idea has absolutly nothing to do with any of my other projects.
However. It may make a terrific start for a fantasy game.
Once upon a time there was a man who did not want to die.
While a fear of death is neither uncommon nor unreasonable, few took it to the lengths this man did. He sought an immortality without affliction, and spent long hours in scholarly debate, research, and in practicing the arcane arts.
He did not find immortality, and died earlier than was likely natural, his body twisting and collapsing on itself in rejection of the alchemic abuse he had put it through.
His family, his friends, and neighbors were grieved at his passing for he was a kind man, and held a funeral service for him as was the local custom. In light of the situation (and the odd rumors going about that perhaps the man was not dead at all) the priest thought it best not to mention that when he had examined the man before burial he had found a wound on his chest: a long, thin line cut into the flesh in a surgical style.
Beneath the cut there was no heart.
