Character: Sonomura Maki
Series: Megami Ibunroku Persona
Character Age: 17
Canon: THIS APP HAS SPOILERS FOR THIS CANON THAT ARE UNAVOIDABLE.

What was a normal day in Mikage takes a turn for the bizarre when a group of students go to visit their friend Maki at the hospital. Why are zombies and demons attacking? Who are those two strange little girls who appeared in town? And why has Maki reappeared in perfect health, with no memory of ever being ill? The answers may lie with Kandori Takahisa of the SEBEC corporation and his experimental technology, the DVA System.

Sonomura Maki has been in the hospital for a year when the story begins. Though she's a sweet girl, she's frustrated and lonely at being left alone as her mother works long hours. She seems a bit subdued initially -- but this vanishes when she reappears with her illness forgotten. As the group searches for Kandori, Maki is much more cheerful and lively; she'll do anything to help her friends and do it with a smile. As they finally find the answers behind the incident, this Maki realizes that she is the "ideal Maki," a projection of what the real Maki wants to be, and that the strange girls who appeared in town are fragmented aspects of herself -- her feelings of helplessness, jealousy, and her self-destructive wish to erase herself and the world to escape her pain. After this revelation, Maki is able to consolidate her selves into one happier, self-actualized person who accepts all aspects of herself...even the creepy ones.

Note: Persona characters can talk to monsters instead of fighting them; Maki's options for dialogue include flattering the monsters or pretending to be scared.

Sample Post: This all seems a little familiar. Between the barrier, and the zombies -- they're not as bad as they look, at least. I told the one that was chewing on my arm that he was terribly frightening and I hoped he'd take mercy on me please, and that seemed to make him happy enough to forget what he was doing and give me some money! I'm not sure where I'd go to spend it around here, though. I wonder if the director's ideal world has no need for it?

But speaking of your ideal world...I'd like to talk to you about that, if you don't mind, Madam Director. Ah, I'm not going to complain about being here or get angry at you, so I hope you'll hear me out! You've gotten plenty of that already, I'm sure. I just wanted to talk about why you've brought us all here.

I know you've been criticized a lot for it, but you must have your reasons and it's not right of us to judge them so easily. You've lost someone very important to you, right? That hurts, and it's only natural that you'd be upset. And when you see other people, and they're not suffering from the same pain you are, and they don't seem to know how you feel, it's natural to be a little jealous of them, too. You're angry that they don't understand how alone you are. You want everyone to suffer as you have, to know how it feels to be left in the dark without the one person in the world you most want by your side. And if you can't share that torment, maybe you want to erase it all. If everyone can't understand what you've been through, then no one should understand anything ever again. And it's okay to feel that way sometimes!

But even when it's natural, that doesn't make it right. There are so many people here -- I'm sure that many of them have felt the same way before! And maybe they're not all ready to forgive you, but some of us will understand, and we can only understand if you let us. Maybe you don't want to accept that you could be so jealous as to hurt innocent people, but that's natural too. It's not something shameful that led you to lock us inside this place of misery and torment. If you can open your heart to accept that those feelings are a part of yourself too, then --

-- excuse me, Mr. Gorilla, I'm trying to talk to the director -- yes, I'm glad you're not ashamed of your feelings, but I think it would be best if you accepted my feelings. And right now, I'm feeling that you must not need that hand very much if you're going to put it there.
