Name: Naoto Shirogane
Age: 16
Series: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4

Canon: In the small rural town of Inaba, the most exciting thing to happen all year has been the opening of the new Walmart-esque department store. That, and the bizarre series of murders and kidnappings linked to a strange phenomenon known as the "Midnight Channel," where would-be victims appear on a turned-off television at midnight when it rains. The protagonist, Seta Souji, and his diverse group of friends must rescue the people who appear on it by fighting their way through mysterious monster-filled worlds inside the television, created by the internal psyches of the people trapped within. By facing their true selves, they harness the power of Persona and must use their abilities to find the victims before they turn up as corpses.

Known as the "Detective Prince," Naoto Shirogane is originally sent by the prefectural police to investigate the murders. Despite his young age and small size, Naoto demands respect from both peers and authority figures, displaying remarkable intelligence, deduction skills, and tendency to exposit. Though he is sometimes withdrawn to the point of stubbornness, he is driven to uncover the truth behind the incidents, even to the point of using himself as bait to draw out the culprit. Once he faces his true self, Naoto comes to realize that he must accept himself for who he truly is; underneath the cool, calm exterior, Naoto has an unrivaled enthusiasm when it comes to solving mysteries, a trait he developed as a young child who loved reading detective novels. The most important thing Naoto comes to realize is that [spoilers]she must accept herself as both a detective and as a woman, something she has quite a bit of difficulty with. Her hesitancy towards anything sexually related stems from her hesitancy in accepting her gender -- but she's getting better.[/spoilers]

I must say, the tenacity of this encampment's inhabitants is truly astounding.

There's only so much I can tell from observing, but from a first glance it seems that living here would be extremely difficult. I imagine between suffering daily harassment from the hostile creatures that prowl the area, living with the constant threat of bodily alterations, and anticipating something even more horrifying coming to pass, the conditions necessary for human wellbeing would be insufficiently met. However, the truth can be surprising sometimes. What I found was not, as the title of the "Camp" suggests, scenes of devastation -- although it must be said that it is a far cry from any normal summer camp. Instead, it seems to me that the people trapped here have somehow managed to endure these abhorrent circumstances and organized truly impressive methods of survival.

However, this begs the question as to the origin of the monsters surrounding the area, and indeed, of the area itself. My gut instinct tells me that I've been to a place like this before, several times... but if that's the case, from whose psyche was this "Camp" generated? Obviously, it can be none other than the mysterious, unseen figure whose name I've picked up from my observations: the Director, Miss Elizabeth Sayre. It's already an assumed fact that she is the one who created this place, which must mean she's had a hand in the process of establishment. But what precisely was her influence on it? The swamp setting, the lumbering undead, the sheer unpredictability of the place... it all stems from what can only be described as a truly degenerate mind. And if that is the case, I am led to believe that the prowess Sayre holds over her realm, depraved as it is, is staggering. And that monster in the lake... it's as if the Director's true self is revealed by allowing this creature to hold sway over anyone who comes near it.

Unfortunately, this is where I've run into a bit of trouble. My limited investigation, added to the frustrating fact that there are virtually no clues pointing towards Sayre's location, has left me without enough information to do much of anything. I need more evidence, and to do that, I'm afraid I am left with no choice. I'll need to go undercover to gather the material I need. It's possible that it may unveil a trap, but it needs to be done. First things first: I hear there is a camp-wide event taking place in a few days. I'll ask around to find more about it -- if I'm an active participant, perhaps I'll be able to understand the sort of whims Sayre places on her inhabitants. Then, if all goes well, I'll be able to use this information to lead me to her whereabouts.

Oh, I see, there's a pamphlet to start on it right here. How... strangely convenient. Perhaps there is a hidden message in the paper, by means of cryptography or some such? ... No, it's nothing of the sort. If this is part of the Director's method of control, I'm afraid it's not very effective. Honestly, I'm a detective. Well, no matter. Let's see what it says... "Revealing Your True Self: A How-To Guide for the Annual--" M-M-Mandatory what?!

Character: Elsia de Lute Irma
Series: The World God Only Knows
Character Age: It doesn’t actually say, but she looks to be around 16-17 years old.

Canon: Hell has a problem: Spirits have escaped from it and are hiding inside the hearts of girls. In order to recapture them, Keima (who is known as the god of dating sim games) has to team up with a demon or else both of them will lose their heads. And how do they get the spirits back? Keima has to make the girl who is hosting the ghost fall in love with him and seal it with a ~*~kiss~*~. Good luck with that, Keima.

Elsia, more commonly known as Elsee, is the demon who is given the job of collecting the escaped spirits. She heard that Keima had the ability of capturing any girl’s heart, but she failed to find out that those girls must be from video games. This one little mistake is enough to tell that she is not the most efficient person. She tends to overlook things and gets distracted easily, and after ward she’d spend forever apologizing over it. But despite that, she always tries her best! And urges other to do their best too, and she likes to nag a lot when they’re uh, not. She doesn’t have too much faith in her own abilities though, so compliments make her happier than they probably should. In short, she’s just an extremely energetic and cheerful demon! Who cooks creepy things and is in love with fire trucks.

So you boil the scales like so, and then you add in a small touch of salt-- just a touch! You then stir, but remember to slowly adds in bird wings while doing so. That's very important, it adds in flavor. Are you writing this down? Alright! Um, I'm not really sure what comes next, to be honest. I think it's either two ounces of sugar or a rusty pipe. I should probably check the cook book. . . Ah, oh well! I don't have either with me so sand will be just fine, it kind of looks like sugar. And if you add that all together you have pasta!

Now that that's out of the way, will you please help me find God? Oh, so I'm supposed to say that? Are you there, God? It's me, Els-- wait, wait, no not that one! What do you mean I have to be more specific by which god I want to talk to? So there's a guy who likes to roller blade who calls himself a god, a really rich guy, and. . . Um, excuse me, but none of these people sound like actual gods. My God is really cool! He's about this tall, wears glasses, and he'll probably tell you to "lurk more" or something along those lines. He can make any girl fall in love with him (as long as they're made of pixels) and he has a bunch of friends (like his mom)! It's very important that I find him, or else I might be in big trouble and then-- oh, I'm sorry. I'm being. . . teal deer? I didn't know that deers came in that color!

I would love to learn more about your exotic wildlife, but I really need to find Keima now. I can't believe that I lost him. Aaah, what will I do if a spirit shows up here?! I don't want to lose my head. Hm? That's very nice of you to offer, but you don't have to give me yours. I don't even know where I'd put your head in the meantime. A box? Who would keep a head in a box? But anyway, you gave me an idea! I'll just have to catch them myself. It really can't be that hard to make someone fall in love with me, right? Although I guess there are other methods, but that one seems the most fun, and I've watched enough soap operas that this will be easy. Let's practice.

"Are you from Tennessee? Because you're the only ten I see!"
"The only thing your eyes haven't told me is your name."
"You must be Jamaican, because Jamaican me crazy."

... why are you walking away so fast? Was it something I said?

Character: Katsuragi Keima
Series: The World God Only Knows
Character Age: 17

Canon: The World God Only Knows follows the shenanigans of a dating sim otaku who, after unknowingly agreeing to a contract with a demon girl named Elsee, must now use his immense dating sim knowledge to capture the hearts of real girls. Real girls who are possessed by eviiiiiiil spirits who hide in their hearts and the only way to get them out is by making them fall in love then delivering the FINISHING STRIKE-- I mean kissing them. Cause if he doesn't, him and Elsee will lose their heads. Literally.

As for Keima himself, he finds the entire thing a pain. Constantly playing a dating sim when not needing to capture a girls heart, he is anti-social and prefers to be left to his own devices. Those devices being his PSP. His only true passion being his games, he has developed a extreme dislike of real women, even after making some fall in love with him, he insists this is true. Yet despite being a lone women hating gamer, he tends to do his best to fit into any role needed of him to capture the heart of the currently possessed girl, showing quite often that despite his blaring flaws, he can be a nice if he needs to be. He just dislikes needing to put forth the effort to do it.

This is an unacceptable set up! The summer camp playing field is extremely cliché! There are at least 1060 games I have played that contain a summer camp trip, 124 of which have the final scenes occur during the last day of the trip. Yet here I am, not only in a summer camp, but one that contains the most ridiculous heroine I have ever had to capture? What happened to the rules governing these spirits?! I was told they can only inhabit women, yet they are willing to leap into the heart of an undead maiden? Ridiculous!

However! If this is required of me to push forward... very well. Now that I have thought about it, there was one game similar to this... "Zom-zom Love Time Memorial"... The monster enrollment school angle is rare, but the zombie girl is obtainable with the right scenario! The first requirement, me being a living, flesh covered human, is clear. The second, being willing to sacrifice my barely ample flesh to her to gnaw on as an encounter is... y-yes... It is cleared as well!

But wait a moment, this is not just one undead maiden... She is in the company of an entire hoard! Am I expected to don the hat of survival horror for this? I am not properly equipped for quick-time events! In the reality, surviving such a thing is impossible! No real agent of the government can single handedly take on wave after wave of brain craving monsters, using only herbs, first aid kits and sports drinks to survive! That is the gaming world, this is reality! Where consuming herbs would sooner cause you to think the zombies are your long lost friend, not empower you further!

Ah, damn! I got side tracked... Yet even with her location established, what is the best path to follow for another flag? If I were to approach her directly, not only is there a possibility I may be eaten alive, there is no opportunity for love to formed... Yet for a zombie to love a man, she must not want to eat his brain, but his heart! And you must be willing to let her tentatively gnaw on your heart as she realizes she has found a new calling, not in your skull, but in her own chest, regardless of how bullet ridden and blood soaked it may be!

Morbid and horrific or not, this is the conviction one must have to capture the heart of a rotting woman!

Character: Iyazoi Sakuya
Series: Touhou Project
Age: Estimated to be between 16 - 20

Canon: Welcome to Gensokyo, a mystical, eastern land where the human race is outnumbered by demons and rabbits (yes, rabbits). Sharing a likeness to Feudal Japan, the setting and everything within it is stacked with folktale upon folktale. Just take the things that bump in the night, add a dash of magic, a shitload of lolis, and voila: you have Touhou Project a la bullet storms. Thankfully, most beings in this world manage to co-exist together peacefully without as many casualties as you'd think there'd be (if we ignore the failed invasion of the moon, but that was a thousand years ago). In fact, one human in particular just-so-happens to work in a mansion inhabited with useless fairy maids and her vampire-loli mistress.

Sakuya Iyazoi's the name, following the ridiculous orders of her bratty mistress is her game... even if her nonsensical logic and the way she goes about fulfilling these orders are questionable. After all, she casually shared her mistress's dastardly plans with everyone. Nevertheless, Sakuya loves her job as the chief maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion and doesn't plan on ditching her insane lifestyle anytime soon. As elegant, refined, and coldly polite as she is, Sakuya tends to be one of the easiest going members of the cast. Hell, she's roundabout, direct, spacey, and sharp all at once. Simply put, she's practically a goodie-bag of contradictions, capable of controlling time--something she finds as handy for housework as it is in combat. Regardless, her devotion towards her job and her serious demeanor make up for her strange quirks and faults.

This camp leaves something to be desired.

Do they honestly think this kitchen is an appropriate cooking environment? To start off, there are fingers, toe-nails, and eyeballs scattered all over the counter. They need to be placed inside jars, otherwise they'll spoil. That would be such a waste. These blood stains on the wall, too. If you kill someone, clean up after yourself. I may be a maid, but I'm not Camp Fuck You Die's personal servant. Fortunately for them, I always have more than enough time on my hands.

--There we go. It looks much better now. If people picked up after themselves they'd notice all this extra space they have to store cooking ingredients. To think, I almost had to trash a can of worms for that very reason. What's this? I'm certain I closed that cupboard door... unless I really did leave it open. Either way, there's no reason for it to be ajar like this... Oh my, what do we have here?

If it isn't a bird with a penchant for spying on people. There's no need to correct me, a toucan is a bird; I was still right. I'm surprised, though. How come I didn't notice you on the stack of plates before? Anyway, I'd like if you made your leave now. I have more cleaning to do and I can't wash those dishes if you're perched on top of them. However, if you must stay, you're more than welcome to help yourself to some spoiled leftovers that need gotten rid of. I think this here is guacamole, just a little on the moldy side.

Poison? Don't be silly, I doubt this will kill anyone. On the other hand, I'm sure I can find something capable... Huh? The fridge is bare! That can't really be all there is... The culinary workers here are pathetic if they can't properly keep a fridge stocked. Well, it looks I need to fill it with my own dishes, but what to make... Wait a second. Oh no you don't, bird, stay longer, be my guest! You've just given me the opportunity to try something new! After all--

I have never prepared Toucan Cordon Bleu before.

Character: Sonomura Maki
Series: Megami Ibunroku Persona
Character Age: 17

Canon: THIS APP HAS SPOILERS FOR THIS CANON THAT ARE UNAVOIDABLE.

What was a normal day in Mikage takes a turn for the bizarre when a group of students go to visit their friend Maki at the hospital. Why are zombies and demons attacking? Who are those two strange little girls who appeared in town? And why has Maki reappeared in perfect health, with no memory of ever being ill? The answers may lie with Kandori Takahisa of the SEBEC corporation and his experimental technology, the DVA System.

Sonomura Maki has been in the hospital for a year when the story begins. Though she's a sweet girl, she's frustrated and lonely at being left alone as her mother works long hours. She seems a bit subdued initially -- but this vanishes when she reappears with her illness forgotten. As the group searches for Kandori, Maki is much more cheerful and lively; she'll do anything to help her friends and do it with a smile. As they finally find the answers behind the incident, this Maki realizes that she is the "ideal Maki," a projection of what the real Maki wants to be, and that the strange girls who appeared in town are fragmented aspects of herself -- her feelings of helplessness, jealousy, and her self-destructive wish to erase herself and the world to escape her pain. After this revelation, Maki is able to consolidate her selves into one happier, self-actualized person who accepts all aspects of herself...even the creepy ones.

Note: Persona characters can talk to monsters instead of fighting them; Maki's options for dialogue include flattering the monsters or pretending to be scared.

This all seems a little familiar. Between the barrier, and the zombies -- they're not as bad as they look, at least. I told the one that was chewing on my arm that he was terribly frightening and I hoped he'd take mercy on me please, and that seemed to make him happy enough to forget what he was doing and give me some money! I'm not sure where I'd go to spend it around here, though. I wonder if the director's ideal world has no need for it? But speaking of your ideal world...I'd like to talk to you about that, if you don't mind, Madam Director. Ah, I'm not going to complain about being here or get angry at you, so I hope you'll hear me out! You've gotten plenty of that already, I'm sure. I just wanted to talk about why you've brought us all here.

I know you've been criticized a lot for it, but you must have your reasons and it's not right of us to judge them so easily. You've lost someone very important to you, right? That hurts, and it's only natural that you'd be upset. And when you see other people, and they're not suffering from the same pain you are, and they don't seem to know how you feel, it's natural to be a little jealous of them, too. You're angry that they don't understand how alone you are. You want everyone to suffer as you have, to know how it feels to be left in the dark without the one person in the world you most want by your side. And if you can't share that torment, maybe you want to erase it all. If everyone can't understand what you've been through, then no one should understand anything ever again. And it's okay to feel that way sometimes!

But even when it's natural, that doesn't make it right. There are so many people here -- I'm sure that many of them have felt the same way before! And maybe they're not all ready to forgive you, but some of us will understand, and we can only understand if you let us. Maybe you don't want to accept that you could be so jealous as to hurt innocent people, but that's natural too. It's not something shameful that led you to lock us inside this place of misery and torment. If you can open your heart to accept that those feelings are a part of yourself too, then --

-- excuse me, Mr. Gorilla, I'm trying to talk to the director -- yes, I'm glad you're not ashamed of your feelings, but I think it would be best if you accepted my feelings. And right now, I'm feeling that you must not need that hand very much if you're going to put it there.
