I have a 'green smoothie' every morning as part of my breakfast. It helps if you have an amazing blender, which I do not. Spinach is definitely a green that chops up more smoothly than the rest, but I like spinach so I alternate other uber healthy greens that I don't particularly enjoy eating like kale, collards, mustard, ect.
(Most people use ice in their smoothies here, but with my crappy blender it's not smooth enough.)
Freeze the greens in a bag. Pound them into bits with your hands. (Very good therapy if you're frustrated.)
1 C greens 1 C fruit/fruits of your choice 1 teaspoon cinnamon 6 oz yogurt (I use plain unsweetened)
Throw it in a blender and mix it up. I sometimes have to add a little water with the greens to get them started first. If the fruit I use is really juicy, I usually don't have to add the water.
I use the cinnamon b/c I eat at least 2 teaspoons of it a day. Type 2 diabetes runs in my family and some research shows cinnamon can help the body process sugar better.
If you don't like yogurt you can use milk or not use any dairy at all, just freeze the fruit to keep it cold and thick. Definitely add water to the greens if you freeze the fruit. :)
