Bible People
I just had an awkward moment.
I was perusing your livejournals when the doorbell rang quite unexpectedly. Curious, i rush upstairs and open the door to find a well dressed man in his early twenties and a middle aged woman standing cheerfully on the porch. The man spoke, "Hello there, we've just been walking around your neighborhood, what a lovely neighborhood, meeting with some of your neighbors. And what we'd like to do is discuss The Bible and some of its practical applications in..." by this time I tuned him out and and was thinking something along the lines of "What The Fuck. This is strange." and had the overwhelming compulsion to just Get. Them. Away.
So I said the first thing that came into my mind:
"Well, that's alright, I'm an atheist." And grabbed at the door with an intent to close off these crazy Bible people. But they were relentless...
"Have You always been an atheist?" inquired the middle aged woman.
"No," I answered although i really have no idea.
"Why are you an atheist"
"uuhh.....long story"
"Is it because of the disillusionment the media portrays dealing with religion?"
"uuuuuhhhhhh....sure. thanks."
....and I closed the door.
Was i rude? No, I dont think so. But now I am curious. Were they just proselytizing? Selling Bibles? Were they going to kidnap me and brainwash me into some Bible Cult? I guess we'll never know.
