It's really interesting to hear/see some of the creative processes behind the pieces. Did you actually arrange the collage elements & take a photo or take photos of individual elements (like your glasses, etc) & then manip them together?
Little bit of both actually. The background/first photo consists of a blank note book and the book, glasses and crumpled paper backdrop. I then got the pen and pictures separately and manipulated them in. That version was tweaked through a Photoshop filter -- watercolour, maybe -- to blur it slightly. Finally, I wrote the text and graphics within the created collage.
That is the best casual, real-feeling-despite-being-a-drawing "snapshot" of McShep, ever! CAT ON LEG! EEE!
I haven't read the story yet, but it's on my list of Things To Read. There are so many great novels to get through this year, and a few are follow ups to previous year's stories that I feel like I have to re-read first.
There are a lot of great and great looking stories. It's difficult choosing where to start. If you liked the other ones in the verse you'll enjoy Hooke's Law.
Hmmm, I think fannish etiquette dictates that the author include a link to the other stories in the verse on her Big Bang story since she mentions them... but I can't seem to find any link on the Big Bang page! I must admit, it could be a case of my being blind, though. I wanted to look at the story titles to see if I'd read them before.
I love both pictures! The one on top has so many awesome details! Especially the little comments from John. :D
I also love John's pose (and Rodney bracing himself on John's knee, without disturbing the snoozing kitty) in the second one. The sofa's pattern is similar to Atlantis' stained glass windows! :D
(I am still feeling bad about not reading SGA BB yet *sad*)
Yay, you noticed John's helpful comments. I had a lot of fun doing that. It was different, usually I just draw.
I actually almost have that sofa but it's green and gold and a bit more angular with respect to the pattern.
I just mananged to read blackchap's sgabigbang. I'd planned on drawing but I read it instead. SO I should really go and draw one of the several things that I've promised to do this Christmas.

I've done collage style pieces before but always did them all with photoshop - this is so clever!
