Has been a long day...

See how I'm actually using this as a Journal these days? Great habit to get into a week before I lose daily internet connection. Splendid. So don't worry peopl;e who never realised I was on your friends list, this can't keep up! :P

Today has been a long day... Started with a family trip into Epsom first, for Mazz to collect her last dance exam certificate. Shame that Laine haven't got them in yet. Oh well. Then we went to Sutton to get mobile phone batteries and eggs. The small supermarket in town (with convenient free parking for customers) has recently converted from Safeway to Morrisons- meaning we couldn't find the eggs. But before we got that far, the remote locker on the car would NOT work. This is the second time it's failed on this rooftop carpark, and it works just fine everywhere else. so grrr. Phone battery was acheived for mother's phone, however the relative cost and inconvenience of replacing Mazz's SIM card so she has Vodaphone coverage at college in the same handset made it cheaper for her to get a second phone, so she now has two concurrent phones, her existing Orange number, and a new Vodaphone number. As she should be online on sunday and her computer at college online shortly as well, email her for her new number if you wish to contact her at college...

Anyways, we eventually found the eggs, and returned to carpark. Car had been locked manually by key, no problem. However manually UNLOCKING triggers the car alarm if the engine is not started, by same key, within 5 seconds. Mother made it in 7. car alarm loud. Eggs did, however, survive. Returning home, I remembered I'd promised to make Jared some curtains for his kitchen shelves... started, and had one of Seven done in about 20 minutes. We had an hour before leaving to meet Jared- you do the maths. No curtains as of yet.

Lovely, ever-generous mother drove us over to Wimbledon to meet JAred as he finished his job at a clothes shop. We wandered into the supermarket across the road - a Safeways that is still a safeways - and bought makings for a Curry, chocolate, chocolate, turkish delight, chocolate, oh, and some chocolate biscuits. His flat was reached 15 mins walk later. Mazz took pity on the exhausted boy and cooked for him, while he and I had tea and biscuits. By the time food was ready, I was not hungry- typical of my contrary digestion. I'm ravenous now! Anyway, as we were eating, Jared's flat-mate Gareth came home, lovely boy that he is. He finished the curry, and we had chocolate. When Jared decided he wanted candles. While there's several shops near his flat, including convenience stores and mini-supermarket in petrol station, we walked "10" minutes to the huge hypermarket to get them. Jared and Gareth's "10" minutes" was 30 by my timing... not that we were racing particularly, but it was quite a way! Spent ages looking at pretty things in Sainsburys, cushions, scented candles, etc, etc, eventually got the tealights Jared wanted, and came back.

After considerable walk back into Wimbledon, we retired upstairs to Gareth's music room. He is a VERY talented musician, Gareth was teaching Jared harmony lines from Tick, Tick... Boom, then we were all singing through for fun. Presently more residents returned from seeing a friend performing in Saturday Night Fever, just as Jared was seeing how high he can belt the last phrase of "Tragedy". Very high, it seems. So much excitement and talk on how the show went tonight, all very good. Then I noticed it was gone 11pm, and Mazz and I had to make our way home. So we went to get moving... and one thing came up, then another, and just, just, just before we went... would have loved to have stayed, they're all such lovely people!

Just as well we did leave when we did tho, as it meant we got the bus home at midnight, reaching our stop maybe 15 mins later. walking past a kebab shop asking "how long's that been there?" I vaguely registered a bearded customer in the shop. A few strides on I stopped and asked Mazz "Was that our father?" we retraced our steps, and sure enough, it was our dad! We've not seen him for a while.. it's one of those situations, it's been a week, so it's a bit awkward why you've not been round... so you put it off... and it gets more awkward, so it gets put off more... and we end up not seeing our father for months at a time, until we bump into him or something comes up for someone to break and make contact! Mazz and I are both bad, but our dad's just as bad too... not just our fault! Also Mazz always finds more to talk to him about- I don't think on his wavelength the way Mazz does.

Anyways, we spent a pleasant 15 mins chatting to him on the street corner, his dinner getting cold... oops... he's got Mazz's new mobile number, and all is good. So got home near enough 12.30... 12+ hours on the go is tough for me with the crap energy reserves I have. So now I'm no longer bothering to think! hoorah!
