London on a saturday afternoon....

= not fun.

Mazz got back from college on the train last night at about oh, 10.30?  She has a tap class at 7pm on fridays so no getting home early!  She needed to get to a dance shop for another pair of dance  shoes.   So we went up to Dancia, on Drury Lane.    So, 12pm train up to Victoria..  Waiting for bus.  WAITING.   Watching the teenyboppers outside the Wicked stage door... oh my.  after about 15 minutes with no 24, and the underground station closed so HORDES of people waiting for the bus....  we decided to try the38 instead. Much easier - untl we got halfway along Piccadilly, when traffic ground to a COMPLETE halt. So wegot off and walked...  and walked means dodged tourists - through Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, to the theatre where rent is...    Mazz wanted to see if we could get tickets to Rent Remixed, so we went into the box office.  Lovely chap there very helpful, unfortunately no student prices on saturday, but he did suggest that the £30 "unreserved" tickets are available for around £25 just over in Leicester Square.  So we went across to Leicester Square, and WHOA the queue at TKTS on a saturday lunchtime!   But since the matinee was 4pm, we thought we'd go get Mazz's shoes, see if we could get Hairspray tickets in advance, then come back.  So we trouped off up Long Acre, to Drury Lane and Dancia.  got her shoes no problem...  then on to the Shaftesbury Theatre.  Tech rehearsal going on, half the foyer full of flight cases and equipment, and live singing onstage, and you can *almost* see in from the foyer!  The only time we could definitely book for was thursday night, as that is when Mazz finishes early at college and can get down for the show.  Just happens that thursday is their first performance...  and they don't have student discounts in advance- fair enough, most places don't.   Nothing left at £20...  or £30...   but front row of the balcony for £40?  That'll do!   And having paid that much, the only real way to justify it was not seeing Rent.  1 showfor £40 = 2 shows at £20.   So no theatre this weekend or next, jujst hairspray on thursday!!!

Then we headed home... having JUST missed the train home, as ever, we went up to Whittards and looked at all sorts of exciting teas.   We both dozed off on the train...  so now Mazz is asleep, and I will shortly do likewise!

ARRGGGGHHHH   TV adverts for holidays to Disneyworld - could get flights and a week in one of the budget hotels for about £550 with Virgin...  I WAAAAANNNNNNTTTT!!!!!!!   What I REALLY want is a lottery win, so I can treat a bunch of friends to 2 weeks in the Contemporary Hotel, playing all day in the theme parks, being total kids.....   but need a LOT of money for that.   Money I don't has.

hairspray, life, rent, disney
