Chapter Five - Home

Orlando's lips felt soft and warm against his, reminding Sean of velvet and butterfly wings. He never wanted to miss that feeling. He closed his eyes and pulled Orlando even closer, fingers tangled in the silky, brown curls…

"Mate, are ye even listening to me?"

Sean looked up as Pete's voice pulled him from his thoughts.

"Huh?"

Pete rolled his eyes and took a big gulp of beer. Talking with Sean had become a rather difficult thing. He constantly seemed to be somewhere else with his thoughts.

"I was jus' telling ya that Morgan has some new information. He'll tell us tomorrow before the match."

Sean frowned lightly, running a hand through his hair.

"Look, 'm not sure if I'll make it to the match tomorrow," He mumbled, not meeting Pete's eyes.

"What?" Pete nearly chocked on his beer, his face clearly showing that he wasn't sure if this was a joke or not.

"Don't be stupid, Bean. Of course ye are coming. What could be more important than the match anyways?"

Sean didn't even attempt to explain it. Pete wouldn't understand. He sighed and kept staring at the dark wood of the table. He wanted to go to the match but he didn't want to disappoint Orlando. There seemed to be no solution that would make everyone happy.

"Alright, alright. I'll see ye tomorrow." Sean emptied his pint before he stood up and went home.

Sean tightened his arm around Orlando a little when the brunette cuddled closer to his side. He had no clue what the film had been about, his thoughts too distracted to focus on it.

"What film shall we watch next?" Orlando smiled at him as the credits showed on the screen. Sean glanced at his watch and sighed lightly.

"Actually I have to go now, luv."

A frown appeared on Orlando's face and he sat up, his dark brown eyes studying Sean.

"You're going to the match?"

Sean didn't look at Orlando and nodded, slowly getting up.

"Sean, you promised not to go." Orlando jumped to his feet, disappointment clearly visible on his face.

"I know and I'm really sorry, lad. I already told ye, this is complicated." Sean walked out of the room and put on his coat. Orlando followed, his eyes darkened with despair, disappointment, and anger.

"Then do something against it, for fucks sake! What is more important to you? Oh no, let me guess: Football is your first priority," Orlando snapped, arms crossed in front of his chest.

"That's not true and ye know it," Sean replied firmly. When he pulled Orlando into his arms his features softened a little.

"Ye know that ye are the most important thing for me, but I can't just…not go to the match," Sean sighed lightly and kissed Orlando's forehead.

"It's enough having people from other firms against me, I don't need me own mates to be against me as well. I need more time ta work this out."

Orlando sighed lightly, feeling his resistance fading. He rested his head against Sean's shoulder, wishing things were different.

"Promise me that you won't get into a fight and come here again after the match." Orlando closed his eyes, fighting against the tears in his eyes when there came no answer from Sean for seconds.

"I can't," Sean finally mumbled, gently stroking through Orlando's curls.

"But I'll be alright, luv. Please don't worry." Sean kissed Orlando softly before leaving the flat. Orlando stared at the door for a few seconds before he walked back to his bedroom, flopping down on the bed. He wasn't in the mood for watching movies anymore.

"Bean, finally." Morgan eyed Sean suspiciously as he sat down on the table.

"We almost thought ye wouldn't show up."

"Why wouldn't I show up?" Sean replied coldly, glaring at Morgan.

"Oh, just a thought. People are starting ta talk about ye, ye know?" Morgan said nonchalantly, exchanging a knowing look with Christopher. Sean shrugged, taking a gulp of beer.

"So what? People are always talkin'," He finally said, looking straight at Morgan, an unspoken challenge in his words.

"Indeed but now people have seen ya with a boy. Said ya looked as if ye were pretty close. Of course tha' makes people think that ya might be…gay." A cunning smile appeared on Morgan's face.

"Ye're constantly hanging around with our dear Chris here, does that make ye gay as well?" Sean replied calmly, his façade perfectly in place even if waves of rage and also panic were raging inside him. People had seen him with Orlando, that wasn't good. Not
because he was ashamed of his boyfriend, but because it meant danger for Orlando. Morgan's smile vanished and he returned Sean's glare.

"Of course not. 'm not a dirty faggot!"

"Then stop accusing me of such things. Tha' boy is my cousin. He's new in town and I'm showing him around."

Morgan raised his hands.

"Alrigh', alrigh'. 'm sorry, Bean. Ye never know and we wanted ta be sure. Ye surely understand that."

"Course I do," Sean mumbled, faking a grin. Why felt all of this so wrong all of a sudden? Sean looked away and missed the determined look that appeared on Morgan's face.

Orlando hadn't found any peace and when finally a knock on the door sounded through the flat he jumped to his feet and raced to open it. Sean smiled softly and wrapped his arms around Orlando as the brunette practically threw himself into Sean's arms.

"Missed me?" Sean chuckled, kissing Orlando. Orlando nodded, scanning Sean's face and smiling with relief when he only found a slightly swollen lip.

"I told ye I'd be fine."

Orlando took Sean's hand and pulled him into the flat, closing the door behind them.

"I'm so happy you are back," Orlando mumbled wrapping his arms tightly around Sean. The blonde was a bit taken aback, but held his boyfriend tightly, placing a gentle kiss on the auburn curls.

"Luv, I don't want ye to worry so much. I'm not in any kind of danger."

"Yes you are," Orlando interrupted fiercely. "You could get hurt and injured and things…things might get out of control…" He took a deep breath, trying to calm down a little. He had seen how violent these men could be, had experienced it first hand. Sean cupped Orlando's cheek and ran his thumb over the sharp cheekbone lovingly.

"Things won't get out of control. I am not alone in this, me mates will always have me back."

"Don't care," Orlando mumbled, playing absently-minded with the zip of Sean's coat.

"I want you to stop all this," He finally said, biting his bottom lip. Orlando knew that Sean wouldn't like this at all, but he also knew that he couldn't live like this, constantly afraid that something would happen to his boyfriend.

"Orlando, we've talked about this already," Sean sighed, pressing a soft kiss to Orlando's forehead.

"I can't just leave the firm."

"You can't have both. If you won't leave your stupid firm then I'll leave," Orlando retorted stubbornly, causing Sean to roll his eyes.

"Alrigh', listen luv. I'll find a way for this to work out and to leave the firm without making me mates angry but ye need to give me time."

"How much time?"

"Until summer break."

Orlando sighed deeply and leaned his head against Sean's shoulder. He knew that nothing he said would change Sean's mind.

Orlando blinked sleepily and snuggled closer to the warm body next to him before closing his eyes again. A small smile played around the corners of his mouth. He loved going to sleep next to Sean and waking up next to him. When Sean was with him Orlando could be sure that he didn't do anything stupid and most of the time he succeeded in his attempt to block all thoughts of football and firms. Within seconds Orlando was asleep again, his head resting on Sean's chest.
Sean groaned when the alarm rose him from his deep sleep. He blinked and pulled Orlando closer, considering the option of just ignoring the alarm, staying in bed, and finding an explanation why he hadn't been at work later, like he did every morning. In the end he always dragged himself out of bed, but on the mornings when he woke up next to Orlando it was a lot harder. Sean pressed a soft kiss to Orlando's forehead, giving the young man time to wake up. Orlando snuggled close and mumbled something before he slowly opened his eyes.

"Mornin' Seanie…"

"Mornin' luv." Sean smiled softly and sat up, stretching to wake up a bit more. Orlando smiled and kissed Sean's nose before bouncing out of bed.

"I'll make coffee for you."

Sean only nodded. He had gotten used to the fact that Orlando was buzzing with energy, even in the hours of morning, while he only felt slightly like a human being after his first cup of coffee. Sean sank back against the pillows, a smile on his face as he closed his eyes again. For the first time ever he truly felt at home.
